Solid move, Norv Turner is similar to Wade Phillips....both very good coordinators when able to concentrate on their respective sides of the ball, but in a little over their heads when asked to run the entire show as a head coach.

Weeden should really benefit from Norv Turners offense.

that's what he normally runs but Fisher is a 4-3 guy and the Rams are set up for a 4-3.

Bold move, but a litany of experience and I think he'll do great.

Fun fact: He took over as OC for Shanny in SF after he became HC in Denver.

Dunno, He was an OC for the 9ers and Raiders before going to Canada

I heard on the lightrail that Trestman was a QB coach for Jay Cutty while he was in college, or something along those lines. Can anyone confirm this?

He hasn't had an NFL job since 2004, so unless he was Cutler's private coach or something, then no. Odd hire. I remember him from the late-90s, but he's an anachronism at this point. I mean, he worked with Bernie Kosar and Rich Gannon when he was with Minnesota, for chrissakes. Literally 20 years ago!

NCAA
He entered football coaching at the University of Miami in 1981 as a volunteer coach. In 1983 he was named quarterbacks coach. That year quarterback Bernie Kosar passed for 2,329 yards and Miami won the national championship. The next year Kosar completed 262 passes for 3,642 yards, both school records.
In 2005, he returned to college football as the North Carolina State Wolfpack offensive coordinator, guiding the Wolfpack to a win in the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

According to wiki, after leaving the NFL, he was with NC State in 2005-06, then took the CFL job.

Trestman is one of those nerdy type coaches NFL players and analysts like to pick on.

I remember he was bagged on because he dropped out of coaching for a while and became a stock broker. He hasn't been with a team for very long that I've seen, seems to get kicked out after a year or two. Strikes me as a June Jones, Cam Cameron kind of guy.

I was in the car listening to Carmen, Jurko, Harry (the show after Waddle and Silvy) and they mentioned Tim Brown and also went on for an hour about what Jerry Rice said when Trestman was fired from the 49ers in 1997. They found an article on line where Rice piled on Trestman for making him run under routes and take hits all year.

I think Marshall is Trestman's type of WR, more of a YAC guy who can get open quickly and make a guy miss.

I doubt Cutler buys into him though...
