1. Houston 12-3
2. Denver 12-3 3. New England 11-4 4. Baltimore 10-5 5. Indianapolis 10-5 5. Cincinnati 9-6 The Ravens and Bengals play each other If the Ravens win they'll be 11-5 the same as Indy if they win, and New England will be 11-5 if they lose. What exactly are all the playoff scenarios? I have not been able to find all of them. I know that Baltimore holds the head to head tie breaker over NE. Does anyone have a link with all the scenarios? On NFL.com they only list Denver, Houston and NE scenarios for the 1,2,3 positions. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...ffpicture_news Last edited by Bacchus; 12-30-2012 at 02:28 AM.. |

Houston is 0-10 all-time in road games against Colts, tied for most road losses vs an opponent without a win in NFL history.

Normally I would not take up for the early games (unless Denver was playing), but with no work, I'll be tuning into the houston/indy game.

You can use this to figure out any scenario you could come up with.

The Colts are locked into the #5 seed and the Bengals are locked into the #6 seed. Nothing that happens today can change that. (Even if the Bengals win and manage to tie the record of the Colts or the Ravens, they still lose tiebreakers for seeding purposes). So this is set in stone.
If the Texans defeat the Colts, they clinch the #1 seed, period. If the Broncos defeat or tie the Chiefs, they clinch at least the second seed. They would get the first seed with a win or a tie coupled with a Texan loss. They would also get the first seed with a win over the Chiefs, coupled with a Texan tie or loss. The Ravens are pretty much stuck with the fourth seed. There's only one exception, and that would be if they win while the Pats lose. That would give them both 11-5 records, and since the Ravens won their earlier meeting, the Ravens would win that tiebreaker. So most of the complications turn on New England. If the Texans and Broncos both win or tie, then the Pats stay at the 3 seed (unless they lose while the Ravens win, which would drop them to #4) If the Pats lose or tie, they cannot climb any higher than the #3 seed. If the Pats win while both the Texans and Broncos lose, then the Pats get the #1 seed, the Texans would be #2 and the Broncos would be #3. If the Pats win while either the Broncos or Texans lose (but not both) then the Pats get the #2 seed. The losing team in that scenario would get the #3 seed. Assuming all the favored teams win today (Houston, Denver, NE and Baltimore), then, in the wild card round, Cincy would travel to NE while the Colts travel to Baltimore. |

Under the most likely scenarios, Denver will be hosting the Pats in two weeks. Certainly not guaranteed, but most likely at his moment.
The upside to that is that Denver would have two weeks to heal and prepare while the Pats would have (1) no time off, (2) a hard-hitting game against a playoff caliber opponent, and (3) maybe even a short week [if the game is scheduled on Saturday] + travel. And, of course, knocking them out in the divisional round would be sweet revenge on several levels. |

food for thought....and didn't want to make a new thread for it.
There have been only 4 teams in the entire history of the NFL that have won 10 or more consecutive games by 7 or more points (Denver Post) and Peyton Manning was the QB of two of them..... 2005 Indianapolis Colts (13) - lost to Steelers in divisional round 1942 Chicago Bears (11)- lost NFL championship game to Redskins 1997 SF 49ers (10) - lost to Packers in NFCCG 2012 Denver Broncos (10) - ?? remains to be seen how far they go....http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...-history-again Last edited by errand; 12-30-2012 at 09:12 AM.. |

Now if they can win by more than 16 or 32 points they can bump that average up a point or two. |

I almost want Houston to win, just to ensure that NE has to play a game in the first round! 2nd seed is pretty good considering the worst case scenario would be traveling to Houston for the AFCCG.

Why is everybody so scared of the Patriots? I've always thought their dynasty (8 years ago) was over-rated anyway. The 2001 Pats were just a lucky Cinderella team at first. They won a controversial playoff tuck rule game. Then they were 14 point underdogs in the SB. They even missed the playoffs in 2002. The dynasty never really began until 2003 and it ended in 2004.

Nobody said it would be a cakewalk...however to wish that the Broncos don't get HFA throughout the playoffs is like claiming you love the US but would rather live in Mexico

I would rather play the Patriots in Denver than any NFL team on the road. The crowd noise in the playoffs is Manning's biggest obstacle.
