We won it last year with out Manning and the rest of the division has regressed. Face it. The AFC West is weaker than you know who's tripping over his dog excuse. We still have Jack Del Rio, all the same FA's, yes the draft would have been different but for the sake of argument try and keep it simple. The million dollar question...our qb... would it have really mattered to win the west?

I don't think so. For one, I don't think we could have had the same success as we did last year with Tebow. And, from what I've seen of Tebow in NY. I don't think he improved year over year.

If I were coaching Tebow....I would force him to change his body. He would need to become faster and more nimble....higher reps, less weight....concentrate on passing...not running and weight lifting.

I'm still a huge Tebow fan......but, I don't think he would have scared anyone this year...and who else would have played QB for us??

It's imposible to tell. The players Denver signed might not have signed with Denver. The players denver drafted might not have been drafted. If Manning wasn't here Denver probably would have drafted a QB in the first round.

Assuming that everything in the draft and free agency played out the same way. The only difference being we kept Tebow and didn't get Manning.

Then yes. I think Osweiler would have started as Rookie and we still win 8 games.

I think maybe we would have. Even probably. Only because our division is just so awful. But I don't think we would have won into the playoffs, and certainly not the SB, and I think we do have a very solid chance of doing so this year.

Having a Manning makes the entire team better. Special teams, we get up the field further, and our kicker can pin them deep. Defense, we get ahead, and we can actually pass rush, since they will be passing more, not rushing. Just having one player can change the entire team.

So it would not have mattered had we won the division. We'd have still been either one and done, or definitely two and done. Now we have an actual chance to win it all.

Not really, SD beats Denver in SD and KC and Oakland probably beat Denver at home as well.

Reason I say no is the SD game. Down 24-0 we would have been blown out in SD instead of major comeback. Might have turned SD's season around enough to win afc west.

I feel like we single-handedly imploded the Charger's season (it's a nice feeling), and I don't think that happens without Manning. so probably not?

Saw a blurb on NFLN that if Denver did not sign Manning, we would have drafted Weeden. But considering the mess the rest of the AFC West is in, then yes. More than likely we would have won it anyway.

Hard to say if we would be in contention. Given how the rest of the AFC West has sucked, sure why not...but we wouldn't be 11-3..of that I can confidently say would be true...

perhaps if everyone but Manning were here as this defense is definitely playing much better this season.....but if the offense was still prehistoric like it was, who knows?

however you have to realize that had we not changed QB's, offensive players like Tamme, Dreesen and Stokley probably do not sign here as they like catching footballs...lots of them, and with the other guy under center, that just wasn't going to happen. As for the defensive free agents like Porter, etc...who knows...maybe they come here due to Del Rio.

All I know is I'm glad how things turned out....signing Manning, getting rid of the circus, getting Del Rio to be our DC...etc.

I'd say yes, because this division is so damn bad. We have something this year that we had last year and it's improved, a defense. Defense was an intregal part of how far we went last year. If the defense hadn't kepts some of those games so close Tebow never would have pulled off his "miracles". But Peyton gives us that much needed umph to get to the SB.

Was about to post the exact same thing. That game was the turning point for two teams. One up the other into a spiral.

Maybe, we'd have to have a few lucky things happen like last year.

But I doubt we win the SD game down 24-0 and I doubt we win the KC game either. 2 more losses for us, easily and I'm sure we'd probably drop another game or 2. We'd still have a shot at it, just because the other teams are so bad. Most likely 7-9 would win the division. I'd rather be sitting at 11-3 and #2 seed.

The only way they were able to get rid of Tebow without a major uprise from fans...was by getting a guy like Manning....who nobody could question the decision.

dude Manning or no Manning Tebow was not going to be the qb of this team this year

I heard the rumors that we liked Weeden as well, but I am sure how much stock can be put into those

All I heard pre draft was how much we loved that Miami RB(forgot his name)

So the answer is yes we still most likely would of won the division

We have the best defense and are the best overall team

Manning's leadership has won us a few games, including San Diego and Kansas City. We would have folded, like a cheap tent, in the face of adversity. His ability to move the chains kept the defense rested, and ready to dominate...
