I'm watching this Lobos/Aggies game on Altitude. It's in standard def. Backwoods New Mexico is still ghetto as ****, if there were any doubts.

I remember being at a circuit city about to buy a DVD player. The salesman told me to wait a month when this thing called "Blu ray" was coming out. I got it and was pissed at first cause no place had any Blu ray DVDs. I quickly fell in love with it though. People laughed at me until they watched a movie on it. Then I was a hero.

The picture quality of an IPad 2 is also horrifying after using an iPad 3.

I know, right? I swear that the "SD" on an "HD" TV is worse than an old SD, but im sure its not...it seems unwatchable

It's hard not to be an HD snob these days. It pisses me off that Dish Network can't get HD feeds on local channels. I refuse to watch the NFL or any other sport in SD.

I can't even remember how I managed to exist without a DVR. It changed my life.

Or games. Go back and play SNES or the PS1/PS2 and the Xbox. You will gouge your eyes out.

I was just commenting on this to Jeeves. I really should upgrade the staff's viewing machines to HD, but that rabble hardly does enough to justify the basic cable I currently provide. |

I am stationed overseas and have AFN, it's worse than standard definition. Feels like I am watching Tecmo Bowl. It is the main reason I bought NFL Game Pass. HD Quality, every football game, NFL Network, you name it...
We have 1 HD Sports channel that and it's amazing when Broncos are playing on there. |

It does. There's an old SD tube tv in the breakroom at work... The SD channels look fine on it. Same channels would probably look awful on the HDTV at home though I never actually watch them.

I still have a colecovision, and an atari 2600, Ive made my 8 and 10 year old try it, they couldn't believe we were so poor that we had to play video games on crappy machines like that.

SD always looked awful on every LCD I've owned. But I bought an LG display a few months ago that does wonders with SD scaling. Definitely a step down from HD content but not at all difficult to watch like on my other screens.

But if you really are an HD snob, hook up an antenna to your Dish receiver. Off the Air digital HD is better than what any of the satellite or cable companies provide. Most DVRs can record 2 programs at once... if you hook up an antenna you can record a 3rd. I currently have 2 HD DVRs, but am going to be looking into the "Hopper" over the holiday. We are considering another panel, and getting an HD feed is MANDATORY. I refuse to hook up anything over an old 21" tube TV without having an HD feed. |
