I put them at 1 because they are essentially a more deep Giants type team. The Giants figured out that the key to today's NFL game is having an elite pass rush. That's your only chance in a league that favors offenses and QBs like Brady, Brees, Manning and Rodgers.

So they built an elite front 7 and the question with them is can Kapernick and the offense do just enough.

Elway is also very smart, he knows what's going on. The Broncos also possess a great pass rush with Miller and Dumervill and the LBs do a solid job. I am confident in JDR getting the most out of these guys so that's why I have them at #2.

You need an elite pass rush in today's game. Also what seems to be becoming a pattern is the pistol offense. Obviously, the shanahans incorporated it first and now you have copy cats with SF and Seattle.

Right now it seems the league is all about the pass rush and teams are starting to counter it with insanely athletic, accurate QBs that freeze the defense and that can make the throws. This seems more legit than the wildcat but we will see.

Thank God Elway values defense and an elite pass rush. Flacco had no chance on Sunday.

His big pick-six against the Ravens at the end of the half was huge as Denver beat Baltimore. When Tracy Porter had his illness issues, Harris went from nickel corner to starter. And he has continued to play at a high level. Champ Bailey is the best corner on the team, but Harris has played at a level that isn't far behind. Not bad for a guy who wasn't drafted.

That's the strength of the team and why I think we have a great chance to win it all. There are better O's and better D's and better STs, but no one with elite units in all three phases other than Denver. (though perhaps our ST is not elite, it seems to be slipping lately, but still very good)

NFL.com has the Broncos ranked at #5. I don't see any problem with them being ranked #5. Are they better than a few of the teams above them? Probably. Have they proved that they can beat any of the teams in the top 5? No. We'll see what happens in January.

Always love the argument team x lost to team y Z months ago, so x has to be ranked lower.

It's especially irritating this year. Yep, we lost to the pats the texans and the falcons (and were in all three games). Of course, we've _only_ lost to elite teams, unlike the pats, texans and falcons.

Power rankings... meaningless

You know that is a very good point. We all know our schedule was front loaded and this team had not yet come together in terms of all that was new. But as you mentioned, we have only lost to the best teams in the NFL, probably the best teams in the NFL along with us and the 49'ers. YET, we are the ONLY team that has not lost a game to anybody else besides these teams in the top 5. Everybody else has lost games to scrubs or mediocre teams. At least that says to me, that this team was still coming together, even though we were in those games. It may cost us the #1 seed but it also could have forced this team to improve much faster then if we had some scrubs early. Being 2-3 and having played the elite teams showed us how fast we needed to improve, and that we did.
