This thread is Gold!!! Will love seeing this thread after he is kicking ass in the playoffs on our home turf!!! Yup 2 games!!! We are going to get the second seed and make a big push in the playoffs, and KM is going to be a big part of it. Super Bowl? Not sure. Depends how healthy we make it there.

Starting to come around on Moreno, looks completely different than his previous years. Seems he's starting to "get it" - no more dancing, hit the hole and move upfield. Good job!

Still think McGahee is better and will be the starter once he gets back, but Moreno's done some nice work. It's nice that it's not too much of a dropoff after all. He's definitely shown he deserves to be kept around and to get some playing time and a larger share of the carries going forward. Next year he might be able to push Willis for the starting job or at least get a 50/50 or 60/40 split with a bit of Hillman sprinkled in.
The biggest thing I noticed today (other than Moreno's 115 yards including an absolutely sick hurdle of Ed Reed ) was the disappearance of Lance Ball. Fine with me, cause I've never been very impressed by him, but man, Jacob Hester comes in off the street and takes all your carries? Ouch. |

If Moreno keeps this up until the afc championship, why would you start a cold back who wasn't that great to begin with

Because even after today's big game, Moreno's still averaging under 4 yards a carry. And you're not supposed to lose your job because of an injury. If McGahee can't get all the way back this season, that's one thing. But otherwise, McGahee's your guy even if Moreno has earned a larger share of the carries going forward. I could see Fox going to a 50/50 split or maybe 50/40/10 (with Hillman the 10) assuming Willis gets back for the AFC Championship Game and the Broncos make it that far. Think Moreno will be given the chance to win the job next season, though.

Moreno is playing better than McGahee was in this offense, therefore he will rightfully remain the starter. McGahee lost us games early in the season, particularly the pats game. Moreno is carrying us at times. Moreno is our running game. McGahee did well when he was able to hold on to the ball, but Knowshon is doing better, while not turning it over at the league leading pace McGahee was. One fumble every 33 carries vs 1 fumble every 102 and counting. Added note - Moreno had 22 carries for 118 yards today. The rest of the team had 23 carries for 45 yards. Food for thought. |

Yes, but how many of those other carries came when the game had already been decided and everyone in the stadium knew we were running safe run plays to kill the clock? it's pretty easy to stop that.

And by the way, this is football not baseball. Throw out the stats and go with your eyes. If it weren't for McGahee's fumble issues there is not a person here who could say with a straight face that Moreno is a better running back. He shows glimpses, at times. But McGahee, although lacking top end speed to break away, is explosive. When the line was blocking he was routinely cutting up the field for 8 to 12 yards a play.
It would be nice to have both of them. It would be really nice if Hillman started to progress. It's looking like it's going to take him some time. |

Right and when Moreno was the guy getting those carries in other games the haters then pointed at his artificially reduced YPC average as some sign he wasn't actually playing well. You can't have it both ways.

KM has definitely impressed and it seems he is seizing the opportunity. Pretty good for a guy who seemed to be on his way out of Denver.
That attempted hurdle over Reed was awesome to see. KM looked really good at the stadium today, I am sure it stood out even more on TV. |

Props to Moreno. He is running like I didn't think was possible which is tough running, wrapping up the ball with 2 hands and playing well. I have crow to eat.
