IF by now ALL these coaches in the NFL are such MORONS ( including at times our own) that they cant realize that going conservative with a 'prevent' defense once you get a decent lead on a high octane offensive is STUPID and only guarantees either an embarassing collapse into a loss ( see the Chuggers) or it only insures a big ulcer at the least in a squeaker win, when if they just keep playing the same smart go after 'em football that got them the lead then they should all be shipped out on a slow boat to China..

Right, but the penalty for spiking a ball in the field of play is technically a delay of game. Immediately after a timeout call you can't get a delay of game.

Also, the ball had just been snapped. Several defenders were rushing, despite the whistle. He could reasonably have spiked the ball to clearly end the play.
