It's hard to believe that Nick Saban is 61 years old.
I don't see him going back to the pro ranks....but you never know, as I'm sure ego and his desire to show he can be a great NFL head coach probably sticks in his craw. |

Von Miller last year against the Jets was pretty disgusting... he rag-dolled a man 100lbs larger than him. Sent him head over heels!

The 49ers-Seahawks game, on December 23, has just been flexed...

Cutler about got his spine removed (again) yesterday. He's gonna be calling Peyton for advice if this keeps up. Jay says he'll be OK for the GB game. Good luck with that, dude. You might be ok to START the game, but I don't know how ok you'll be AFTER the game.

There was uncomfortable silence then they asked if he had any questions for the audience and he laughed and said that wasn't a good idea, it would not end well or something. Now I see what you guys had to put up with locally with him when he was in Denver.

Nothing has changed and probably never will. Maybe it will, but right now he just doesn't have leadership skills. It's sad to see, but that's about the size of it.

He threw 2 pick 6's yesterday, certainly wasn't the only reason they lost but sure contributed to it. Back in 2009 I had hoped he would grow out of the bad INT's, One his rookie WR fell down but he sailed the other. So glad we have a HOF QB now!

I've came around and don't like Cutler near as much as I used too but, he isn't getting any help from his WR's or OL. This has to be the worst OL I have ever seen at a NFL level. No QB can be expected to produce with those tools. |

Trent Richardson not demoted by Cleveland Browns
By Gregg Rosenthal Around The League editor Published: Dec. 14, 2012 at 12:45 p.m. Updated: Dec. 14, 2012 at 01:21 p.m. The headline in Friday's Canton Repository caught me off guard: "Childress says no plans to demote Richardson." Wait, what? It's remarkable this even is a conversation. The Cleveland Browns took Richardson with the No. 3 overall pick in the draft. They traded up for him! His backup is ... Montario Hardesty. Yet it's not that crazy a suggestion when you look at the numbers. Richardson is averaging 24 carries per game during the past month, without a 100-yard game. He hasn't averaged more than 3.6 yards per carry in any of those games and was held to just 42 yards last week. For perspective, New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw has the same number of yards as Richardson this season in 51 fewer attempts. read more at nfl.com: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...eveland-browns |

I decided to look into some of the records/milestones that players might reach with 2 games left in the regular season:
Records/Milestones: Passing attempts: Drew Bledsoe owns the single season record of 691, set in 1994. Matt Stafford has 629 attempts, with 2 games left to play. 63 pass attempts in the next 2 games will give Stafford the record, which looks very attainable. Steven Jackson went over 10,000 career rushing yards last week. Jackson has 909 yards rushing in the season and only needs 91 yards to notch his 8th straight season of rushing for 1,000+ yards. Adrian Peterson has 1,812 yards rushing on the season and only needs 188 yards in the last 2 games (94 yards per game) to hit the 2,000 yard mark and 294 yards (147 yards per game) to pass Eric Dickerson's single season rushing record of 2,105 yards set in 1984. Brandon Marshall (107) and Calvin Johnson (106) have a chance to finish the season with 2nd most receptions in a single season. They won't reach Marvin Harrison's all time record of 143 receptions, set in 2002, but they could reach the 2nd spot, of 123 receptions, set by Herman Moore in 1995 and Wes Welker in 2009. Speaking of Wes Welker, he has 100 receptions on the season, his 5th season of 100+ receptions, which is a new NFL record. Calvin Johnson has 1,667 receiving yards on the season and has let it be known that his gunning for Jerry Rice's single season yardage mark of 1,848 yards, set in 1995. C.J. needs 182 yards in the last 2 games (91 yards per game) to break that record. C.J. has also said he is aiming to be the 1st receiver to crack the 2,000 yard mark. C.J. needs 333 yards in the next 2 games (166.5 yards per game) to reach the 2,000 yard club. With the Lions out of playoff contention, and having a piss poor season, look for them to try hard to get Calvin Johnson those 2 milestones. This isn't really a milestone, but the season Tony Gonzalez has should be noted. Dude is 36 years old and claims this is his last season. Tony G. has 87 receptions for 880 yards and 8 TDs this season....so he'll probably end up with over 100 receptions and 1,000+ yards on the season. His 1,236 career receptions for 14,218 yards and 103 career TDs are mind boggling. That makes him the 2nd all time leader in receptions, 7th all time in receiving yards, and 6th in receiving TDs. I know we crack on him because he doesn't have a playoff win, while Shannon Sharpe has 3 Super Bowl rings, but his career numbers, and production at the age of 36 years old should be recognized. I think Tony G. would be stupid not to return for a 17th season. He is relatively healthy and will have the rest of his life to do something else....may as well play another year if you're still capable of performing at a high level and enjoy it. On a Denver related note, it would be nice to see Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker both end up with 1,000+ receiving yard seasons with 10+ TDs. Denver has never had 2 receivers notch 1,000+ yards receiving and 10+ TDs in the same season. DMT has 78 receptions for 1,210 yards and 8 TDs. Eric Decker has 72 receptions for 923 yards and 9 TDs. Peyton Manning is 347/511 (67.9%) for 4,016 yard and 31 TDs and 10 INTs. The single season passing marks for the Denver Broncos are: completions (384 Jay Cutler in 2008), attempts (616 Jay Cutler in 2008), completion percentage (67.9% by Peyton Manning in 2012 with Brian Griese at 66.7% in 2002), 4,526 yards (Jay Cutler in 2008), and 31 TDs (31 TDs Peyton Manning in 2012). I look for Peyton Manning to break all of them this season, except the passing attempts mark, which is fine, as it means Denver starting running the ball well down the stretch run. All purpose yards: Darren Sproles set the record with 2,696 all purpose yards in 2011. Randall Cobb has 2,241 all purpose yards with2 games left to play. The single season sack mark of 22.5 was set by Michael Strahan in 2001. 3 players have a chance to reach that mark. J.J. Watt and Aldon Smith each have 19.5 sacks with 2 games to play. Von Miller has 16.0 sacks. Von Miller probably won't get there, but I'd love to see him reach the 20 sack mark. The punting yards record in a season could fall as well. The record of 4,968 yards was set by Andy Lee in 2007. Dave Zastudil of Arizona has 4,546 punting yards with 2 games to play. The forced fumbles in a season mark could be topped. Keep in mind, the record hasn't been closely tracked until the last 12 or so seasons, so I'm sure one of the old timers has topped this mark. Osi Umenyiora holds the record of 10 forced fumbles in 2010, but Charles Tillman has 10 forced fumbles this season to tie the record, with 2 games left to play. 6 receptions for 117 yards for Calvin Johnson in the first half of tonight's game.
C.J. is going to get Jerry Rice's record....2,000 yards will be the target. Last edited by SouthStndJunkie; 12-22-2012 at 07:22 PM.. |
