Probably time for the President to actually come up with a real honest to goodness budget, maybe the fifth year will be different than the rest.

Except in this election Republicans maintained firm control of the house. Which is the body most responsible for spending and taxation. Never has a 50.9% victory with a split congress been so oversold.

I'm sure that either of you characters would not have a problem at all coming up with a single, similar case.

Here's what happened. Single issue. The GOP ran a candidate whose basic argument was that the country needed more tax cuts for the rich and cuts in entitlements. The Dem candidate ran on the idea that taxes should be raised on the rich, maintained on everybody else, and there were spending cuts that, added to the new revenue, would help to bring down the deficit. The voters selected plan B.

The GOP got crushed in the election. Lost seats in both houses and their presidential candidate was soundly defeated. Now, they say they will block the implementation of plan B.

That is anti-democratic. That is showing no class. That is being a bunch of whiny losers.

The people have spoken. The GOP response? Shut the **** up.

You do know that it's the Congress's job to come up with a budget, right? In particular, the House.

That "single, similar" case being the very last US Presidential reelection bid (ie, the most relevant comparison that could possibly be made to this case)

Bush won reelection with a similar majority (50.7 vs 50.9) Republicans extended their control of both the House and the Senate. And what you're telling us is that Democrats should've just packed up and went home. Let the Republicans enact what they campaigned on.

http://www.politifact.com/tennessee/...-budget-more-/

Quote:
An independent search by PolitiFact via the Library of Congress’ Thomas bill-tracking web site confirmed the figures cited in the GOP report.

But none of the bills approved by the House or the Senate Appropriations Committee were ever brought to the Senate floor for a vote. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who decides which bills will be considered, told reporters on July 10, 2012, that no spending bills were likely to be approved this year because of an ongoing dispute with House Republicans over how much the federal government should spend.

True to his word, Reid so far has not brought any of the annual spending bills to the floor this year, necessitating the short-term budget measure to keep the government running for another six months.

Reagan, Clinton, and Bush's voting percentages went up during their reelections. Obama's went down.

I think that cheating in general helped Obama is some swing states -- that is fairly well documented. Not sure how much took place on both sides - either way, for our republic to stand all cheating of every kind needs to be better addressed.

"Helped" doesnt mean it won it for Obama - just stating the obvious - there was cheating and all cheating is bad.

Rohrrim - I was wondering if Soros has ever given you the raise you were promised? I mean, blogging 24-7 on food stamps alone has got to be difficult for you.

Meanwhile, in the real world, what is "fairly well documented" is the fact that voter fraud is almost a non-issue.

Is this a trick question?

How about "More than the Zero Obama's last budget proposal got."

Is that a good answer?

Anyway, you can't get any votes if you won't even allow one. Why do you figure Harry's blocking any of these bills from even being voted on?

No, it's not a trick question. If you don't know the answer, then you obviously won't know why there hasn't been a budget vote.

Where did you learn about government, by the way? Do they teach classes on Bazooka Joe gum wrappers?

I find it amazing that all these politicos have so much time that they can buzz the Broncos Football forum all day and night, rarely posting in the Football side IF ever.

My guess that they are the 47%ters that are being supported by NOBAMA and his cronies..

I have a legit reason to be able to come to this site almost at will I am retired.. Although I do watch an elderly family member with Alzheimers that can not be left alone.. I am retired and spend less than maybe 2 hours a day total on here and most of that is in the football forum..

what wimps do you have to be to be the lead liberals on a football forum?
bet they are proud..

I just come into the political portion for fun.. If I wanted real debate in political format I'd go to a real site..

just like some of the wannabe GMs and HCs on the football side these mokes think they are the queen bees on this side..

ahahahahahaha

Let's do da math - lonestar may learn something...

houghtam: ~4,255 posts since Jul 2006, which is ~56 posts/month;
lonestar : ~5,126 posts since Jul 2008, which is ~99 posts/month.

Yeah, you're right, the way it should work is the House should just keep passing random **** until Harry likes what he sees well enough to take a break from his busy lobbyist fundraising schedule to start twisting arms. And they shall call it "Good Government"

And, if you'll recall, Bush and Cheney claimed they had a "mandate" after that election. So, what's good for the goose and all that.

What? I can't read this...

I think Obama's obliteration of Mitt by 332 to 206 electoral votes has blinded me.

The president's "budget" is nothing more than a suggestion. It's the Congress' constitutionally defined job to create the budget. Something the Congress has been failing to do.
