I think statues of living people are a little creepy, particularly when they're just sports figures.

But within the context of athletes having statues in front of stadiums/arenas, then yes, Elway deserves one as much as anyone else does. It's not just his ability or accomplishments, it's that he is more closely associated with this city than any other athlete is associated with any other city, as far as I'm concerned.

Why not give Elway a statue....Texas Rangers built a statue to some guy who fell to his death to get a $3.50 baseball and there is talk in Charlotte of making one if a fan (who is in critical condition) dies as a result of trying to jump from ramp to ramp at Bank of America stadium....

As for the elway statue, just make sure his mouth is closed, lest we have some idiot kid like Jags had get his head stuck in the teeth.

Plus I always found it creepy when statues of sports stars go up. Way too cult of personalityish for me.

I think statues are wonderful. They show us what great people would look like with bird **** all over them. Pigeons have no sense of history. “Napoleon? Whatever. I just ate some bread, so I’m going pretty much wherever I want. Demetri Martin

Grammar. If you had it, I might understand what you're trying to say in this post.

As you can see the sculpture, who was killed by this horse while sculpting it, had a very keen attention to detail. He even included giant blue balls and a pecker.

People have made some pretty bad ass pictures with Blucifer, the good ones they haven't put online. But they generally revolve around this theme:

Sorry for the small picture, its the only one I can find online.

Not at all. I have an issue with the use of the word superhero when it is applied to a sports star.

IMO, this is a statue of superheroes:

I would think a clown like you who has so many alleged degrees, and takes Sheldon Cooper classes, would be able to understand that if teams are erecting statues for fans who have died (or may die) then surely Elway deserves one....

Can you get a refund on your so called education?

Elway isn't like a TD. Elway is part of Colorado. 1977 was a crazy time for Denver and helped the city and region to the umpth degree. Elway gave the region and of course Denver/Colorado something to care about from 1983 to 1999. His legend lived on as if sometimes a non sports figure would think he was still playing. He changed so much and now is doing it as a Front office suit. While your concern might have merit and especially to those that cringe at a statue of someone living and then have them do something stupid ie. Joe Paterno, this is one chance I would take. BTW, I wouldn't do it right now. I think more in line with him retiring from football altogether.
