I'd envision Dane Sanzenbacher playing the same role as Anthony Gonzalez filled with the Colts for a few years before injuries derailed his career.

The San Francisco 49ers are still assessing the damage a day after a thorough defeat at the hands of the division rival Seattle Seahawks, but the early returns are not good.

Wide receiver Mario Manningham tore both the ACL and PCL in his left knee, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

You serious about Sanzenbauer ... he's a fringe performer. I think Gonzalez is from Ohio State too, but I can't see much else to compare. Gonzalez was pretty good his forst couple years.

And is Willis that bad? He's just #4 WR, plus Dreesen and Tamme, couldn't have expected much production from him.

Name a few plays in particular that have given you this notion.

I see him as a player on the roster begging for an upgrade to be brought in.

I'm not saying signing Dane Sanzenbacher would be a roster shattering, difference making move. I'm saying I think it would be one of those in season shrewd moves that John Elway and company have made this season that would be a minor upgrade on the roster.

If they don't do it this season, as it's probably a little late to bring him in and get him acclimated to the offense in such a short time frame, they should sign him when the season is over if nobody has claimed him.

Sanzenbacher is the kind if of player who would attach himself at the hip to Peyton Manning in the offseason and get on the same page with and come into training camp and have some chemistry and cohesiveness right off the bat.
I agree that we need to get some more help at the WR position, but I don't think Dane Sazenbacher is the solution. Bring him in to compete?

He's white I'm sure they'll heavily consider it

I'm not saying Dane Sanzenbacher would be a stud for Denver....I'm saying he would be an upgrade on the roster from the spot that is currently occupied by Matthew Willis. Small upgrades like that on the back end of your roster can make a difference at some point and time.

Matthew Willis never looks like he is in synch with Peyton Manning and has caused at least one INT this year by running the wrong route and not being where Peyton Manning was expecting him to be.

Compare?

Same college, both All-Big Ten 1st Team, both white, same slot WR role, one is 6'0 and 190 pounds, the other is 5'11 and 180 pounds. Both known for running precise routes and making the tough catch with traffic around them. Sanzenbacher can also return punts, which Gonzalez never did.

Jacob Tamme is having a nice season:

51 receptions for 542 yards and 2 TDs.

Factor in Joel Dreessen's season: 39 receptions for 341 yards and 5 TDs and Denver has had excellent production from the TE position.

Jacob Tamme: 51-542-2 TDs
Joel Dreessen: 39-341-5 TDs
Virgil Green: 3-44-0 TDs
Juius Thomas: 1-5-0 TDs

Total Tight End Production: 94 receptions for 932 yards and 7 TDs.

Right up their with the super bowl teams with Sharpe on them. Perhaps not as many over the middle catches but almost the same numbers.

The Bengals claimed WR Dane Sanzenbacher off waivers from the Bears and placed rookie CB Dre Kirkpatrick on injured reserve.

Smart move....no better time than right now for Oakland to get a chance to evaluate Terrelle Pryor in a regular season game.

Palmer has actually had a decent year, given the circumstances. I imagine this is as much about showing the fans how crappy Pryor is so when they cut him in the offseason they aren't all up in arms and realize he's just another wasted pick by Al Davis.

Carson Palmer is out with cracked ribs and a bruised lung.

Matt Leinart came in and stunk last week.

The staff can game plan for a full week around Terrelle Pryor and then see what he can do.

I bet he plays a little better than most people think he will.

Pryor will make some mistakes I'm sure, but I bet he makes a few big plays as well.

From what I've been hearing, Oakland might void the final 2 years of Palmer's contract and look in another direction next season.

All I saw out of Pryor when they played him a couple series vs kFc was dinking and dunking. I don't see this guy as a legit NFL QB. I wonder if Oakland doesn't keep Palmer one more year and try to find 2 more QB's.

I'll take that. I don't want his ass in Dallas and building that team up the right way.

Payton is a top notch, elite coach.

It is not the HC hat builds the team in DAL. It is Jerry Jones and his EGO that builds and directs his team.

Hard to judge a QB on his first few series playing in the NFL.

Not saying Terrelle Pryor is going to be awesome or anything, but that is a fairly small sample size.

Carson Palmer hasn't been the same QB between when Kimo von Oelhoffen of the Steelers blew up his knee in the 2005 playoffs and then the 2008 elbow injury that sidelined him for most of the season.

Palmer can still sling it around the yard, but since the injuries he's gotten happy feet any time there is any activity around his legs. He turns the ball over a lot. His arrival in Oakland certainly hasn't resulted in a lot of wins.

Mike Brown should have been arrested for robbery for getting all the draft picks he did out of that deal.

Back to Terrelle Pryor....at least he is the one QB on their roster that has the ability to pull the ball down and make a play on his own with his feet. If the other offensive players are on the same page as Pryor he might be able to parlay that athletic ability into some big plays.
