my 9 year old sons hub atom hockey team must show up to the rink in a suit, with a tie, everytime they come to the rink, it is in the contract we signed when we accepted the position on the team.

I've never understood that whole thing for professionals even. For 9 year old kids? That's just bizarre. Unless you're attending private school, there's simply no need for that crap.

I've worked for two major Boston law firms and I haven't had to wear a suit more than once or twice in over 10 years.

I like that they have to wear a suit. It's professional and makes the organization seem classy. But I agree, I wouldn't mandate that stuff til college. I wouldn't mind if my kid had to dress up at nine, but I wouldn't be thrilled about it.

9-year-old kids in suits seems excessive. I understand varsity high school coaches requiring it for away games, or if you are representing a university.

Its Canada, and its hockey, and its not all that uncommon, most teams above house league mandate black shirt and pants at minimum. It does make it look like the organization is classy, and has been that way since I played rep 30 years ago.

I should clarify tho, its not full suit, its dressed shirt and tie with slacks, last year the coach even got the kids all matching ties to wear, so very nice of him to add 20 bucks in the budget to buy the kids each a 5 dollar tie.
