It's no coincidence that the latest violence started immediately AFTER the US election.

Netanyahu was hoping that Romney would win. This latest round of violence looks like a deliberate escalation by Netanyahu.

The Palestinians in Gaza have nothing to gain from attacking Israel.

I don't know why so many people in here are quick to jump on Gaffney when he is merely pointing out the humanitarian atrocities that Israel has been committing since Jesus had a crew cut. Americans tend to think that Israel can do no harm, when they are by in large one of the biggest culprits of right abuses in the whole entire world. It is quite disgusting.

I don't think Israel should get US support. They can stand on their own.

Also without America assistance Israel would be finished in about 5 yrs. The EU and the UN would flex there antisemetic muscle and probably put sanctions on them. They would be the new Iran.

The Hamas leader killed by Israel had been involved in working out a permanent truce -- just before he was targeted. If Israel wanted to coexist in peace- -why did it target the very Palestinian with whom it had been negotiating for 5 years?

This suggests -- as I indicated -- a cold blooded decision by Netanyahu to escalate the violence. It's easy to do -- simply stage the assassination of a high level Hamas leader.
