Really though i could care less what the govt calls something on the news. Whatever do what you have to do to catch people. My problem is that they didn't have enough security in the most volatile of regions to begin with. Then when it happened they didn't do enough to help them.

Shes missed a lot of votes at the UN and has gotten her ass kicked by the Russians there. She just doesn't stand up to them. She hasn't the mindset for bigtime politics like SOS. She isn't even a good UN ambassador.

There was a landmark Russia/US bill that got passed today. Literally today, November 16th, 2012. The Congress that passes nothing passed that, literally today. Anything else Nance?

Yep service to the country. I think he would lie if he thought a lie was best for the CIA and the country. You think generals are above lying? or just this one?

Awesome. Petraeus is lying under oath to protect the conspiracy that is what exactly, the CIA, FBI & WH wanted a couple Americans murdered. That's believable, just like you are Nance.

The man is now a civilian and testifying under oath, what purpose would be served?

Anyway, can't you poor losers take anyone's word other than a serial liar like Romney?

The Right has become an embarrassment.

Can't speak for you, but a direct portion of my paycheck goes to unemployment and STD/LTD, and a larger portion indirectly goes to that. Do you think that money belongs to you or something?

We should learn from it, and not make the same mistakes again.
What is tragic is how widely the Republicans are viewed as pro-military when at every turn they sacrifice the war fighter for little or no gain, propose expensive projects, and lend voice to a corruption that is better served by good politics and strong military that is not fat from greed.

We believe that folks in Benghazi, a small number of people came to the embassy to - or to the consulate, rather, to replicate the sort of challenge that was posed in Cairo," Rice said. "And then as that unfolded, it seems to have been hijacked, let us say, by some individual clusters of extremists who came with heavier weapons… And it then evolved from there."

Ambassador Christopher Stevens, along with three other Americans, were killed in Libya following the assault on the American consulate in Benghazi, on the 11 th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. Rice said the FBI is examining the attack, saying their investigation "will tell us with certainty what transpired."

Rice's account directly contradicts that of Libyan President Mohamed Yousef El-Magariaf, who said this weekend that he had "no doubt" the attack was pre-planned by individuals from outside Libya.

"It was planned, definitely, it was planned by foreigners, by people who entered the country a few months ago, and they were planning this criminal act since their arrival," Magariaf told CBS News."
Yup. The Libyans were more upfront with the facts than our own government who scapegoated and jailed the producer of some cheesy YouTube video. Labron and Roh insist the white house is totally exonerated.

The White House has been.

Say what you will about the accuracy of Susan Rice's statement, but now everyone involved has come out and said "yes, that is the best information SHE was given up to that point".

So far what these hearings have uncovered is the following:
1. Early on the CIA suspected it to be an act of terror.

2. with no incontrovertible truth to support that assumption and an ongoing investigation they internally removed that hypothesis from the statements they issued to the State Dept. and White House.

3. Even if they had been 100% certain that it was a terror attack Petraeus even said yesterday that it was culled from the initial reports on principle as those were public non-classified documents and the CIA was concerned about tipping it's hand.

4. The CIA outpost was never told to stand down during the attack and instead responded in less than 24 minutes.

5. The CIA outpost that was supposed to be a covert front was apparently also attacked by someone who knew what the **** it was.

6. A single security camera and a drone provided video to the CIA during the actual event, which apparently lacks the kind of conclusive evidence the CIA feels is necessary to prove it to be a terrorist attack.

I'm still wondering what the conspiracy theory here is supposed to be. That they wanted additional security? A lot of embassies do and our military is currently stretched quite thin due to perpetual conflict in Afghanistan. If it was found out that this was a high priority demand and that the people there truly feared for their safety this might have a little sticking power but there is no suggestion to that effect. Instead most who are in the know have been saying that it was too early in the life of this embassy outpost to fully calculate it's security needs and that while it did need more it's needs were still not fully quantified.

People are acting like this is the first time a U.S. ambassador has been killed. Six others have been assassinated since 1950, four of them in the 1970's alone. They're easy targets for radicals because theirs is a mission of peace. We can't encircle them in heavily armed soldiers and transport them back and forth in armored convoys when they're trying to sell a message of cooperation and mutual trust. Not all ambassadors get the sweet postings in Paris or London, someone has to step up and do the hard work abroad.

Of course he's not disputing either the report or the testimony - because he can't.

That's why he went straight for the ad hominem.

It's tough to tell around here when the Right seem to be saying:

"If it ain't told us by Fox or Limbaugh, then the facts ain't right."

Nice technique. Bring up a point nobody disputes and then pretend its the whole argument. The problem isn't that someone repeated what they were told. Its that that person was deliberately marched in front of the American public with known disinformation about a politically inconvenient national security incident. Contrary to the O Army's hopes, its important to know the who what where when's and why's.

No it's not. There are things that general public doesn't get to know or be told. There are things done overseas that needed to be achieved that should never see light of day by American public. When it comes to national security sometime it better for misinformation to be put out there then the truth.

Yeah I'm sure. And if for a week or two after 911 had the Bush administration blamed the whole thing on Pilots abusing bath salts you would've just said "Hey Its Ok. I'm totally sure they made up that story for our own good. Above all else we should trust whatever they say."

If they couldn't tell the truth they should've said it was still under investigation. The YouTube thing should end somebody's career. The question is who.
