Ben Roethlisberger's rib injury is rare, dangerous
By Gregg Rosenthal Around The League editor Roethlisberger says his rib is partially dislocated and he has no timetable to return. The rib problem actually is more severe than his shoulder injury. How rare is the injury? The last time his doctor heard of it was in 1998 with a rugby player. Roethlisberger told reporters Wednesday that the injury could kill him by pressing against his aorta and puncturing his lung. So that's not good. Roethlisberger's rib is partially dislocated. Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL.com and NFL Network passes along word from Roethlisberger that his pain level is at a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10. He's only sleeping four hours per night. "I can move (the arm) around, that's not the issue Rest of story: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...rare-dangerous |

Most other players, I would consider it a tragedy... and I know he was acquitted (even though the evidence was stacked up against him). In short, I couldn't be more indifferent to Rapistberger's injury, and I would consider the NFL a better league without him, whatever the avenue of getting him out of the league is.

It's also a matter of him just being a major douche, too.

He will have time to reflect on his life, between the screams of pain that is.

NFL network reported that there is really no way to protect it, i.e., extra pads won't help. It will have to completely heal before he can play again. Wouldn't be surprised if he's out 6 weeks or more.

Realistically any player could die on any play. Just a matter of hitting the right spot at the right(or wrong) time.
Sucks for Ben. Karma is a mofo. ![]() |

I should say this now, rather than after someone says it.
Do not hope for a players death. It will not end well for you. ![]() |

Byron Leftwich is the one who i going to get killed (this Sunday that is). I thought his release was slow before, but he looked horrible last weekend when he came in for Ben.
IMO - Charlie Batch is a much better option for the Squealers. He is a pretty good game manager when the running game and defense are clicking. |

Guy I'm playing in FF this week is a huge Steeler fan, and half of his team is Steelers (Big Ben, Mike Wallace, Redman, Miller and their D), so this hurts all of them... Get well soon Ben.

Guys, this actually sucks for Broncos. The best chance of getting a playoff bye would be if the Steelers split or swept the Ravens and the Broncos beat the Ravens. Now it looks like the Ravens will have a relatively easy sweep. Especially if the Steelers play Bledsoe with a tan.

Bens injuries have been piling up over the years. Yet somehow keeps going. He's like That sneaky ****in Russian Boris the bullet dodger from the movie Snatch.

At least, the diagnosis wasn't too late. The NFL doesn't need a game-day death, on its hands...ESPECIALLY if it could have been avoided...
