I know the electoral math is where the rubber meets the road, but we've all seen the polls miss even outside the margin of error.

I was wondering if we'd see Romney win the popular vote but lose the electoral vote, like Gore did in 2000. The problem with that is Gore and Bush were less than a percentage point in seperation at the end of the 2000 election. The day before polls and exit polls had Gore up by a percentage point or more going in. Republicans have historically done a percentage point better than the polls indicate going back multiple decades. This also jives with the Gallup poll's results from a week ago. The thing about polls is no one poll is right. You have to look at trends and see if more agree than disagree.

I think the biggest red flag for the Obama campaign is only 37% think the country is on the right path. Do you really think "forward" is the right message when that is the consensus?

This next week will be telling, but I'm beginning to thik more and more those last few percentage points that are undecided and make a choice on election day will break for Romney.

Yes, but the difference here is that predictions about Obama winning were based on facts and research, whereas "bipartisan" polls like those from the Weekly Standard and predictions like those from Karl Rove and Dick Morris are not.

There is no argument though that he is a lefty. In his own 538 blog FAQs in 2008, he said that he and his main contributor are dems and supporters of Obama. He was brought in and given access to the Obama campaign internal polling (LInk to Buzzfeed). He is a former blogger at the leftist Daily Kos. There really is no argument that he is a lefty.

Oh believe me, I saw Rev (and others tirade) on the subject. I've roamned off and on for a while, but TJ informed me that I was the standard bearer for not what to do with "neg reps" so I got a month's vacation in because nyuk nyuk cried about it, although he/she really has no place to talk about going "low" considering half of my neg reps or so from her make fun of my kidney issues. Haha!

It was actually quite nice to be away from the boards that long. Unfortunately, I buried my grandfather on Saturday, so it is nice to get back into the mix here and talk politics. He's the guy I learned the ropes from. He held public office in SD for about 12 years. He voted absentee so his vote for Barack still counted even though he was dead on election day. He would die that day though. Funny how it works.

My last phone call with him was about the Broncos and a reminder to vote! Now he gets to hang out with FDR and Truman.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. I know what you mean about learning politics from your grand dad. One of my grand dads was Chief Council to the United States Senate for years and was even considered to the Supreme court but turned it down for a long deserved retirement. He spent his entire career (making it to 100) deep inside the Washington machine. A Republican who championed civil rights. He'd be ashamed of his party if he were alive today. Boy the stories he told. I still can't fathom what he saw and was a part of spending most of the 20th century doing what he did. That generation made America great. I truly believe that.
