Good point. The thread's about jobs and you post something about the Iraq war.

To be fair though, broken records do have a limited selection.

Your comment didn't specifically address jobs - it was a general "observation" about leadership styles.

You have to admit you left yourself wide open for the response you got.

If this were Bush v Obama, you might have something. Maybe. Except that election never happened. But go ahead and focus on winning your fantasy election while the voters decide the real deal today.

Now look who's changing the subject.

Doesn't change the irony of your comments about leadership one bit.

There's no irony unless you're saying I worshipped GWB as much as you do BHO. That's not really the case. Bush had many flawed leadership characteristics.

Besides, military leadership is a completely different animal from economic leadership. Much to the disappointment of many left-leaners, there's no such thing as a commander in chief in a free economy.

This post should be used as an example of "The True Scotsman Fallacy" on Wiki.

Why? Just to confuse people about what it really means?

No true Scotsman is an informal logical fallacy, an ad hoc attempt to retain an unreasoned assertion.[1] When faced with a counterexample to a universal claim, rather than denying the counterexample or rejecting the original universal claim, this fallacy modifies the subject of the assertion to exclude the specific case or others like it by rhetoric, without reference to any specific objective rule.
Exactly what you just did here.

Only if you think your original comparison made sense.

Hanging a "Mission Accomplished" banner on a Carrier returning to port after a long wartime stretch does not equal believing (as a law professor) you can imagineer entire new sectors of the economy into existence by the stroke of a pen.

Apples and Oreos.

The "mission accomplished" reference was a direct response to your comments about leadership - nothing more.

Not surprisingly, the irony was completely lost on you.
