Okay, this whole exchange isn't going as I had hoped.

See, here's what I was thinking.

listopencil referenced "Who is John Galt?" I responded with a reference to Willie Gault - mistakingly thinking it would be funny. See, they both have the same last name - phonetically, anyway. And since this is a football board, I thought it would seem funny that someone would automatically assume the literary reference was actually about a football player.

So, from there, Buff says, "No, that was Willie Gault" - to which I reply, "Who is Willie Gault?" Now here, my logic starts to go even further south. I was referring to the original reference - "Who is John Galt?" It seemed sort of circular, and it was funny in my head.

Then pictures of 80's cultural icons started getting posted, and baja and BroncoBuff gently corrected me.

This whole thing went straight to hell, is what I'm saying.

Oh well, what are you going to do? Who is John Galt?

That was my point a while back - it was amazing what a OM folk hero Mock was after he got ill and what a pariah he was before the PB incident. Funny how things work.

Let's just say I've always been relieved that KC won the "Cassel Sweepstakes" (that our rookie HC "was late to the dance"). Cassel sucks.

Man! This place used to be drama central.

I still miss Mock. Not for these later posts where he'd been attacked so many times that he just came on being defensive and pissed (and probably was pretty sick and medicated as well), but his early stuff, talking about farming and his cat and his nieces and his drug escapades in college. That was some of the funniest stuff I've ever read.

We spoke on the phone several times during the last several months of his life and you could tell his mind was wasting. So many here thought he was a dumb ass but Mock was a very smart guy and knowledgable on a surprising array of subjects. Mock truly was a one of a kind guy. I miss him too.
