But we're definitely under. I mean I dont want to give up 2's but I certainly dont mind paying him the 2.5M. We should actually be demanding the owner to spend to the cap limit. Not on all guaranteed contracts, but on contracts like Williams. I mean, the Panthers are probably going to cut him this offseason anyway. That cant be asking more then a 3.

You wanted positive rep for being the first on the trade. If it doesn't happen, you get neg rep for it. Not too hard to figure out. You are the hero or villian.

I like rumors just as much as the next guy. Naming a thread as fact before it happens is misleading. It gives me flashbacks of all those sources who claimed fact that Manning was a Titan.

No. I didnt say that at all. I have never sent a neg rep in all my time on these boards. I was just implying that other posters would. I could care less.

It has nothing to do with rumors...its the fact he's saying he has a source and it "is happening".... that would be like me making crap up everyday about a source I have... what good does that do... pointless conversation

So which arguments of mine have been proven wrong? The fact that I don't want the Broncos to waste money and picks on a guy who can't even beat out Jonathan Stewart and won't be able to beat out McGahee?? (BTW, the election is Tuesday. I'm not on the ballot, but feel free to write me in if you want.) P.S. FIGHT ON!!!! ![]() |

Why do I keep envisioning fwf blindfolded standing in front of a tall chain link fence, with about 50 Omane members standing in a firing line in front of him?

You wouldn't need a source for this rumor. Glut of RB's in Carolina, former GM fired, new coach, bad record, former head coach John fox. You could make this up and run with it on possibly being true.

No. Those were his STATS four years ago. Stats don't equal ceiling. His ceiling might have been higher. If certain plays were called differently, blocking was better, QB play was better, coaching was better, the weather was better.....etc. Things outside his control. He could've easily had more yards and TDs if certain things outside his control happened.

While I think the title is a bit misleading as there doesn't appear to be anything beyond "light rail" rumor to make this a "fact" it is an interesting discussion.
My one prior post was really just a quote from an article so I want to clarify and not take credit for it, but from that article it just seems like it'd be paying a lot for a player not getting a lot of field time right now, so my questions are this: 1. What is the real deal for the money if another team picks him up? Salary cap impacts? how much of his salary would another team really have to pay and how long would they have to keep him or could it be renegotiated in any way? 2. How good is he now really? I've looked at his stats, but I don't think those tell me the whole story. Clearly in 2008 he had a crazy good year, but he's gone down markedly. why? Is he not playing well or is he getting fewer attempts and if so why? why, if this is true, would another back get more reps if he is the best of the backs? Presumably the offensives schemes and type of back needed play into that, but do we know anything about this? Is it his quality in question or just bad coaching or something? 3. How will he help us? Is the potential cost to potential reward ratio worth it? Is he better than what we have? |

I hope it's true. DeAngelo Williams is one of my favorite RBs in the NFL.
