This is laughable on so many levels. Please provide ANY evidence to support this.

$6 mil a year? What?

$2.6 this year. If he sucks, we cut him at the end of the year. If he lights it up, we have him under contract for $4.5 next year. The last 2 years are fictional backloaded salary years that don't mean a thing. He'll be re-written well before then if he's even on the same team at that point.

And enough with the "same as Hillman" crap. There's zero evidence of this.

You must be related to him or something.

Yeah, for less than half a season. His remaining contract is $18M for the next three years. Do the math, 18/3 = $6M a year.

To be fair, you're the one who said "last 2 years." Not "last year".

And he did have 7 TDs in only 155 carries last year. That's a pretty damn nice TD/carry rate.

im on a mobile device.

He had almost 900 yards on 155 carries last year. JStew was close to 800 with 142 carries. Please, shut up. The ran significant less due to Can Newton getting carries but keep saying he underachieved, "numbnuts."

How about you provide some details to prove that bull**** you are posting instead of expecting someone else to provide the info to prove you wrong. You made the claim so the burden of proof is on you, prick.

Once again, you're including the fictional back end years that NEVER get played out.

$2.6 mil cap hit this season. That's it. Period. How is that overpayment?

Did you think the running game wasn't "broke" before the Saints game? It's amazing how one game against a team that averages giving up almost 200 yds a game on the ground makes everyone feel all warm and fuzzy about our running game. It can be improved. And we have 3 guys on our roster today who are not even close to as good as him, so by definition, he'd improve it.
Hillman hasn't done enough YET, but he's a rookie. His game is similar to DeAngelo's, watch the tape.

$2.6 is overpaying for less than half a season of work for a backup RB. He is not starting over McGahee. You are basically asking him to fulfill Hillman's role. Why is that hard to understand?

I haven't thought the running game was broken, even before the Saints game. McGahee is on pace for nearly 1300 yards, despite the tough early schedule. And that means that our running game is in trouble? M-kay...

Guys, let's tone the name-calling back on both sides. This is a good thread and debate. Let's not get it shut down.

Look at his YPA in games when he doesn't break a huge run. I'll use games from last year since he got more work. YPA is bolded:

Sun 9/11 @ ARI L 21-28 12 30 2.5 8 0 1 6 6.0 6 0 0 0
Sun 9/18 vs GB L 23-30 5 13 2.6 6 0 4 23 5.8 10 0 0 0
Sun 9/25 vs JAC W 16-10 10 18 1.8 5 0 2 17 8.5 11 0 0 0
Sun 10/23 vs WSH W 33-20 10 35 3.5 8 0 0 0 .0 0 0 0 0

Wow, looks like great if he gets a long run, average or worse when he doesn't. Hmmm....sounds a lot like Hillman, who we already have and took in the 3rd round. Why is that hard to understand?

This year is the only guaranteed season we would be required to pay. Do the math, 0/0 = $0M a year.

Why does everyone just assume McGahee plays at a high level next year? Maybe he becomes the back up

Cam Newton had 700+ yards on more than 100 carries last year. DWill didnt underachieve at all. He just wasnt being used.

As far as namecalling, you can talk to that other guy about that.

Yep, he was wanted here, and then everyone laughed at that crazy contract he got. I'd be okay with the move since Carolina already paid the bulk of it.

So I guess I could make that statement about any RB drafted in the last year or two that runs "similar" to DeAngelo. It's your opinion, but you are making it out to be a fact that Hillman = DeAngelo. That just doesn't fly.

Your math teacher failed you. Less than half a season? We still have 9 games to go....not even including playoffs.

It's hard to understand because you're wrong. Even if he doesn't start, he's going to take away more than Hillman's measly 5 carries per game. That's just crazy talk. He'll get basically the same workload as McGahee. Just like Fox has always tried to do with a 2 horse backfield.

McGahee can't keep this pace up for the rest of the year + a long playoff run, hopefully. Fox knows this.

I really have no problem bringing DeAngelo Williams in via a trade, the only issue I have is what will the Broncos have to give up to get Williams. As others have pointed out, DeAngelo Williams is in the final year of his guaranteed money. That means, really, any team that gets him will have the ability to redue his contract. So the real question is what do the Broncos have to give up in trade?

Watch the tape, bro. Same style, similar stats (projecting Hillman if he got more work), similar measureables, same role if DeAngelo got traded to the Broncos. If you don't see it, there's nothing I can do to help you. Just be patient and you'll see that I'm right.
