Seems like nothing more than a light rail possibility.

That being said, Williams would be a solid rotational back behind Willis. It would allow Denver to use Hillman as a speed/change of pace back and in specialized packages.

I highly suggest you go look at the game logs of the top RBs in the league last year, at first glance, it won't look like much.

You're whole theory about YPC not meaning anything is ignorant.

yes, maybe in a game you can break off a huge run and get a boost...

But to average 5.4 ypc over 155 carries, is impressive under any circumstances.
Oh please, this guy splits carries because he can't do the job. Once of the most overrated backs ever. He's had one good/great year, one good year where his backup/splitter actually did better. YPC, whoohooo. That's like saying Denver's 2006 offense was stellar because we were #2 in yards. And that would be an ignorant person saying that. Give me the guy that gets the points. Anything more than them paying us to take him is Maroney part deux

Any trade for Williams wouldn't be too bad on the team getting him. He'd only be due $3m odd for remaining gamecheques for 2012 and has already had every cent of his $21m in guarantees. Denver could pay him the $3m this year then let him walk in the summer.

I'd take him but not if we have to give up KM.

I was saying that you can't tell because the Saints D is so bad.

YPC and total yards are two VERY different criteria.

You're right. It's not like this guy has 37 TDs in the last 4 years worth of games or anything, splitting carries no less. Oh, wait a sec.

I still don't get why people are claiming his contract is bad? Was it a poor contract (for the team) when he was signed? Absolutely. They paid him $21 million up front. But that huge # that Carolina already paid. We wouldn't owe him any of that. And looking at the per year figures, he's paid like a 1b back, which he would be, plus insurance should McGahee break down. We're in win now mode. This is a win now move.

Saints D.

Don't get me wrong, McGahee is still a stud, but that Saints' defense suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-c-k-s.

s-uuu-c-k-s gets autochanged to s-uuu-n-s?

To be fair, the Saints defense is averaging giving up 170 rushing yards per game this year.

Seriously we got a good shot this year at a ring. It makes sense to get insurance at the running back position. MaGhee being able to run has been key to our offense success, if we were to lose him even for a few games it would put a serious crimp in our golden opportunity and today is the trade deadline so it's now or never.

The panthers gave him a 44M contract 15 months ago. The guys that get paid to evaluate players saw something. I think he splits carries bc he's hurt alot and Stewart himself is a great Back. Go watch the tape. Mcgahee may have better vision, but you cant compare his speed and burst with DWills. Sorry

The year the Panthers drafted JStew, Williams ran for over 1500 yards splitting carries. If he wasnt doing his job, i dont know what is.

I think it's a smart move and Elway makes smart moves so that means it's happening. Right?

But it was the saints who play flag football caliber defense that he beasted. Don't get me wrong Willis had been good but the domination we saw Sunday was a little accentuated by the opponent.

Deangelo split time for two reasons:

1. Fox/Hurney liked to have two RB's their whole time in Carolina. As long as they had mediocre QB play and werenn't able to imrpove that, they wanted to double down on the running game. before Deangelo and Stewart, it was Deangelo and Deshaun Foster. Before that, it was Deshaun Foster and Stephen Davis.

2. The light didn't come on for DeAngelo until Stewart arrived. I remember reading an article that deAngelo was guilty of being lazy and expected the starting gig to be handed to him once DeShaun left... and then they drafted Stewart in the first. That lit a fire under DeAngelo, and he responded, big time with 1500+ yards and 20 TD's.

DeAngelo was never part of a time-share because he sucks. On the contrary, I believe he is an elite RB talent who has been under-utilized. Skill-wise, I think he's easily a top 10, possibly top 5 back in this league.

A complete list of NFL RB's I believe are clearly more talented than Deangelo Williams, independent of scheme:

1. Adrian Peterson - best all around back in the league. Closest we have to Walter Payton.
2. Chris Johnson - speed kills.
3. Ray Rice - a fireplug, he does it all.
4. MJD - see Ray Rice.

I will also entertain the following in the discussion, but am not convinced they are head and shoulders better than Deangelo:

Darren McFadden
Trent Richardson
Stephen Jackson
Matt Forte
Frank Gore

It sound like you and Baja are changing your tune a bit from Sunday.

Remember this thread: " We're a RB and LB away from being contenders" http://www.orangemane.com/BB/showthr...66#post3709866

You said quote: "DUMBEST.THREAD.OF.THE.YEAR"

And now you dont think its such a terrible idea to grab another RB i see? Actually, Theres about 20 people on here now who think picking up one more back would be beneficial.

What do you got to say?

The irony in all this: before DWill re-signed with the Panthers, everyone wanted him here.

In all fairness some of the backs we have had in recent years couldn't do that. Knosho would have picked the wrong gap and been pulled down for a loss.

STILL the dumbest thread of the year. I didn't say he was bad, he wasn't "breasting" we have Manning who is breasting.

Dumbest thread of the year.

Okay, run with it.

Thanks for posting that. He's always a threat to break one, but if he doesn't, his YPA is pretty pedestrian. Sound familiar? Oh yeah, it sounds a lot like Hillman, only much more expensive. Hopefully this is a just a light rail rumor - I don't think it would make the Broncos much better and it would be a bad decision financially to overpay a guy like that. If the running game ain't broke (and it ain't), don't fix it.
