Haley had to basically beg Pioli to take Eric Berry.

Haley went Rogue because Pioli controlled everything. I don't think any HC could succeed in that environment.
Good stuff, so we can all hope that Pioli keeps his job.

Pioli staying is as likely as the team winning 5 more games to justify him staying, so not very likely.

His contract is thru 2013. I'll ask this again because I love being the broken record on your crappy team:

Do you think for one minute that the Hunt clan is going to pay for all of this at the same time:

1. Pioli's contract (dead money if he's fired before 2013)
2. Crennel's contract (dead money if he's fired before 2013, maybe 2014)
3. Crennel's coaching staff (a lot of dead money)
4. A new GM
5. A new HC
6. A new coaching staff

The only person off the books after 2012 is Haley.

It is actually cheaper for Clark if he fire Pioli this year. He wouldn't be paying as much.
It's also much cheaper to cut Matt Cassel after this year, as well as Tyson Jackson.

If Pioli's contract is through 2013, they'd still have to pay him not to work. As for Cassel, you've already wasted the lion share of the $60m so who cares?

Here's the way I see it going down: Pioli stays on the payroll through 2013. He then releases Cassel and Cassel then gets re-signed by New England. Then in a bold and stunning stroke of genius, Bill Belichick trades Ryan Mallett to KC in exchange for Jamaal Charles and a 1st.

game over.

King Carl thought he was a liability.

Even as stupid as that was, it was an even trade. We got an above average LT and the most explosive RB in the league.

From Adam Schefter:

It has been 25 years since a quarterback the Chiefs drafted led Kansas City to a win. A quarter century!

well, they did draft Steve Sendstrom in 1995. He led the Bears to a win in 1998. And then there's Steve Matthews, drafted in 1994. He and won a game for Jax in 1998.

Since Todd Blackledge was drafted in 1983 (ahead of Jim Kelly, Tony Eason, Ken O'Brien, and Dan Marino, BTW), QB's drafted by KC have won a total of 2 career starts, neither in KC.

I think you meant 1983, not 1993.
