EKD is a beast, yet a lot of people aren't happy with him I don't get it at all
![]() hes been the only Bronco that has been a consistent pass rusher over the years before we got Von Miller. Doom is currently 15th in career sacks among active players w/ 57.5 sacks not bad for only playing 5 full seasons (this being his 6th) compare that with James Harrison who has 59 sacks going into his 9th season. ![]() This Season 1st in Forced Fumbles for any position 5th in Sacks for DL 3rd in Tackles for DL 5th in QB hits for DEs (9 total QB hits) and I remember going into the SD game he was 5th in QB pressures I am sure hes probably higher now. I get he gets paid the big bucks, but damn the way people throw him under the bus all season long until Monday is sickening especially since this is looking like it might be his most complete season. Hes playing the run better than ever and becoming an all around solid DE not just a pass rush specialist. Elvis has definitely not left the building. So out of all the stats you posted, you're not going to mention he LEADS THE LEAGUE (not tied with anyone) in forced fumbles with 4.

^I think it will be especially if we start playing with a lead VonDoom should dominate. I think were already 4th among teams in sacks imagine what we could be not playing from behind.

Just imagine how badass his stats would be if the refs would throw a flag for holding

Doom is one of our best player and we love him. But......as fans we will always overreact when players don't perform well. Its short for fantatic ya know? All it means is Bronco fans are passionate about the team, and that we all probably care a little too much about NFL football.

This thread was kind of sparked by someone writing things like this below. I just think people forget how good Doom is sometimes when he is having a good season at the moment even before the SD game. Quote:

Seriously this would help. OL know they can get away with more this year. League will never admit but there has to be an unwritten rule form GODELL to not call the holding this year and let them play. Seriously, all of a sudden OL just quit holding.....sure they did. |

Football and whimmen share similarities, yes. For example, if a woman complains it is typically because she sees value and a ceiling of performance that you are capable of achieving. I know you were being glib and all, but I (and I can only, truly, speak for myself) treat my woman like I do my football.

They just take what they see in that moment and treat it as the whole story. If we managed the Denver Broncos by omane standards... Manning would be cut to start Brock and Ronnie Hillman would be returning punts right now. DT would be traded. and Decker would be cut. Chris Harris would be benched. Rahim Moore would be taken off the field and we'd just play 10 on 11 football. Dumervil would be traded or cut after week 1. |

People need to relax about Doom....
Dumervil had one monster season where he netted 17 sacks.....which paved the way for him receive a huge contract...however he had 10 sacks during our initial 6-0 run in '09....7 over the next 10 games. Needless to say when he's playing well, we generally win....when he's MIA, not so much. In our 9 wins of '06 he had 7 sacks...in our 7 losses, he had 1.5 In our 7 wins of '07 he had 9.5 sacks...our 9 losses? 3 sacks total. In our 8 wins of '08 he had 3 sacks.....our 8 losses he had only 2. In our 8 wins of '09 he had 13 sacks...in our 8 losses he had 4. I believe his absence was one reason we had a miserable '10.... In '11 he had 7.5 sacks in our 8 wins....2 in our 8 losses. This season 3.5 of his 5 total sacks have come in our wins.... After signing his huge contract he promptly got injured and missed significant time. And it's that huge contract that has caused some to wonder if he's producing at a level acceptable to his $$$$ paid. He's shown flashes of that monster season ability since he's returned, but he's not back to the dominant player he was in '09. He had a very good game on Monday...2 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. Hopefully he'll continue to play like that the rest of the way.... It helps us greatly when our defense can play with a lead...... |

extremely frustrating watching him get stonewalled by a rookie in first half of SD game, but I wonder if that first half experience allowed him to destroy him in the second half?

Well, it's really about the paycheck. For the amount of money he is making now, it is expected for him to dominate. He was a bit lackluster out of the gate, as compared to a 2nd year rookie in Von Miller. People were not throwing him under the bus - analysts and some fans simply said they feel he needed to step it up a notch for a DE making some 43+ million in a new deal.
He did step it up against the Chuggers. And that is the level at which he should always be playing. Props to the guy, but he needs to earn that huge paycheck. |

He earned his contract by his play prior to it, let's get that straight. He signed that contract based mainly on what he's done and..and after based on what is projected of him to do. Now moving forward, the reality of the situation is that he will be paid that contract REGARDLESS of his performance. That's the reality. I despise it when people always talk about contract this and contract that and how players need to "earn it." Peyton Manning doesn't win the super bowl and all the money we paid him was pointless and he "didn't earn it," even tho it's surely all in his and his management's bank accounts. Players don't become super human after signing a contract, they're still human and football players and just like you or I, they will have days where they aren't at there best. There is no such thing as a player performing their very best every single game... those few who CAN do that most the season are legends. |

People need to get off his back. He's been playing better lately, and has improved in the run stopping department. It's too bad we haven't had the lead in most of our games this year so he can actually wreck havoc.

It's a paycheck for a contract in the FUTURE. X per year - and the pay for each year is indeed, commensurate for what they expect out of that player. Yes.. they need to earn that huge contract. Yes, he needs to perform at a level that contract reflects. Manning is a known excellent commodity. He has already proved it this year. He was a huge impetus for our win last week. He is worth the money we pay. I personally don't think it's on Manning if we don't win a SB. He can't do it all. His ability gives us a greatly increased chance at getting there, but they still need to build a team that is SB ready, including defense, a running game, etc. Doom has not had the sort of career Manning has. We paid him big bucks.. and immediately we lost his services. He is back, and just needs to really prove he is worth the contract the Broncos gave him. I do agree about Von.. he is just a better player. Still, the point of having those two is that while one is drawing attention (Von), it's up to Doom to bring the heat. Mind.. it's a real problem we have next to no pressure up the middle. |

Anyways, go talk to a sports agent when you're free, and tell them that contracts have nothing to do with what a player has done. (considering this is the only statistical basis you can use to predict on what he will do) Chris Johnson *cough* Alex Rodriguez *cough* |

People that stay all calm over sports probably don't care all that much. Myself I go crazy but have learned to get it all out on gameday and not let Bronco ineptitude ruin my week lol. Hell I can remember Bronco fans being down on Elway a few times. Whatever though I think the team getting better and maybe someday soon we really won't have anything to b**** about. |
