This is a Swiftboat attack on Obama.

It appeals to latent racism and bigotry -- very sleazy.

The idea that Jesus "favored the poor" is completely unbiblical. The Catholic Church excommunicated such priests, several of which of whom were associated with Marxist guerrilla movements such as the Sandinistas.

Speaking of that, I'd like to see Obama explain his older videos in which he spoke of taking from the suburbs and giving to the ghettos considering he now claims he's for the middle class. Shaking them down in favor of ghetto dwellers isn't exactly "for" anyone but ghetto dwellers. Marxist economics states taking from the haves and giving to the have nots will raise the have nots, where as in capitalism it states that expanding economic opportunity will help the have nots raise themselves.
You've suffered a salt overload from swallowing all that spunk from the birthers/Beck/D'Souza/Limbaugh/et.al.

I don't see anything convincing from the pictures of the ring, offhand they look of some traditional African design I would guess. If the ring is made of gold, it is not Muslim by definition as Muslim men aren't allowed to wear gold jewelry.

And yes, he did grow up surrounded by Communists (his own parents and Frank Marshall Davis for starters). This is only new news to those who only get their news from the mainstream news. I think the most interesting thing of it was in at least one instance, Obama participated in a campus DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) townhall which was also co-sponsored by campus Democrats. Since the two are openly in bed with each other, why make a stink about Obama's Socialist associations? The Democratic party has been infiltrated by pinkos and Reds since at least the FDR administration. It's not exactly a secret. Obama was an open member of the New Party whose Statement of Principles is very similar to mainline Socialist parties such as the Socialist International of which the DSA belongs.

Why get angry if people call the Democratic Party "Socialists" if their campus orgs are openly working with Socialists? We even see it on this forum; the terms "progressive" and "Socialist" heavily overlap. On the social and cultural level, especially, the Democratic Party has heavily been taken over by Socialist revolutionaries. Many Democrats here are for the exact same social aims that every Socialist party out there wants. The only real difference at this point is that one contingent is pro-capitalist and the other is anti-capitalist. On much else you guys are joined at the hip.

No, I used to be a leftist and in reading materials by and about left-wing revolutionaries such as the Sandinistas, I came across the Latin American liberation theology movement and became familiar with it through that route. Blase Bonpane was the first priest/liberation theologian I came across.

Nice try, though. Too bad in the real world things aren't as simple as blaming Beck and Fox. Life's a b****.

And you didn't vote for Bush. Twice.

Leave the red-baiting back in the 1950s, 'nyuk nyuk'.

That kinda **** only works with the mental midgets who comprise the vast bulk of your party. The rest of us see it for the desperation and idiocy it is.

... I've never been a fascist let alone a "proto-fascist." I was, however, a former Marxist-Leninist (generally speaking) and was strongly in favor of revolutionary Marxism. Nice to know many former leftists turned conservatives, this is very heartening for me. Thanks for the info.

I am a Republican, and I voted for Bush once, as in 2000 I was a lefty and voted Nader.

What I find most amusing about holier-than-thou liberals is their engaging in the kind of behavior you display even while decrying others for it, which is namely prejudicial labeling of others scarcely before they open their mouths to dialogue with others what they think. You already have the labels and categories ready, and unfortunately, they're totally screwed up.

Of course we know it's only wrong if one of those bitter clingers does it.

Ah, enlightenment!

There is no red baiting going on, and that you can only respond to my post here by making such false claims in part proves the validity of my post, otherwise you'd have been able to debunk it by now.

It's in plain black and white: The Democrats are in bed with Socialists, are in bed quite openly with them, and Barack Obama has participated in this.

Next?

There is a difference between socialist and marxist and communist - as you yourself seem to recognize in this post. Red and Pinko go towards the last of the three. Theres no arguing that we're almost all a little bit socialist in this country and the democratic party has aims towards more social programs than the republican party...

As far as Obama surrounded by Communists? Really? Maybe you can argue that with his dad, who he didn't see after he was 5 years old. His mom Just because she was an anthropologist working in Indonesia doesn't make her a Red.

You don't get it. You proto-fascists claim to have been lefties - the further left the better - when in fact you've always been proto-fascists, even when you were little larvae.

At least nyuk nyuk's attacks are a lot closer to legitimate than lonestar's blatantly racist drivel. Even if its seems to be a call for bringing back the red scare.

Only to ignorant American right-wingers is "socialist" a dirty word.

You "conservatives" hugely favor socialism - for corporations and the wealthy.

Socialist parties are similar to Communist/Marxist ones in that they are all in favor of doing away with capitalism, so ultimately, the differences are more minor and usually are in relation to the methods preferred in obtaining the Socialist state. Socialism by definition means public ownership of the means of production which is the type of property confiscation that we saw in Cuba and the USSR. That's what it is.

Since I didn't say anything about Obama's being a Red based on her working in Indonesia, your statement makes no sense. She had Marxist associations at least from college onward, including Frank Marshall Davis. Suffice it to say, if someone had hung out with Nazis from college onward, they'd be considered at the least a Nazi sympathizer, as it goes along with the territory. Democrats, of course, wish to pretend this isn't the case and get very defensive. Again, there is also the matter of the Campus Democrats so-sponsoring a DSA event which Obama attended. This doesn't take a genius to put together. I don't think the Nazi analogy need be mentioned again.

Government subsidies are not socialism, that is a worthless canard.

Dictionary much?

so·cial·ism
noun /ˈsōSHəˌlizəm/
A political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole

Policy or practice based on this theory

(in Marxist theory) A transitional social state between the overthrow of capitalism and the realization of communism

The most popular advocate of Socialism was named Karl Marx. I think it speaks for itself.

Historically illiterate much?

I'm still not sure I understand what your argument is... and a communist and a socialist are different. Most people today in first world countries are social-capitalists, which appears to be exactly what the President and the Republican candidate are... based on actual actions they've both taken in life.

Communist means the state owns everything. Strict Socialists advocate for the actual people owning everything. Thats a significant difference. Most aren't strict socialists and that term now means more of an equal opportunity for all throughout society. Except for the real fringes, even in the DSA, there has never been an argument that the state should own all means of production and goods.

Regardless - I do appreciate this type of attack as having a more legitimate and factual ground. Cheers!

Of course in the liberal mind, racism and bigotry are a one-way street and the labels only fit their opponents to the right of center. What a nice dream world you live in, must be really warm there, the way you all linger.

I don't think throwing liberal myths at me is a particularly effective weapon, although you clearly do.

Since I grew up poor, am now middle class, and have never been rich, I obviously do not fit your prefabricated label, do I?

Slow that crazy stuff down.

Which side has the black guy ?

Last I looked Romney was the rich, white guy and your saying we are racist against a rich, white guy ?

Red, yellow, white or black matters not to me. Romney's BS fantasyland policies favor the rich, its that simple.
