It's not that this is anything new to say this but the fact that every division series went 5 games, while good for TV, was bad for the integrity of a 162 game regular season. And the fact that the home team lost all but one series, just adds to it.

Rookie Avisail Garcia comes through in the clutch with a two out RBI.

Tigers lead 4-0 in the top of the 8th inning.

Tigers win 6-4 in Game 1 over the Yankees in 12 innings.

That was huge....they would have been down had they lost after giving up a 4-0 lead in the 9th inning.

It looked like Derek Jeter really screwed up his ankle/foot in the top of the 12 inning.

He couldn't put any weight on it at all when he was coming off the field.

It sounds like Derek Jeter ended up breaking his ankle.

Unbelievable.

If it were me, I would release Valverde. I have no confidence in him and he's going to be a FA anyway and I doubt they'll re-sign him anyhow. Use his roster spot for a middle reliever, and just close out games with a team effort by playing the lefty righty matchup game.

I felt good, then sick to my stomach, then good again, but like when you're climbing the rope in gym class and wearing short shorts.

I saw the highlights of the Tigers-Yankees game on ESPN last night. They were pretty in your face about the narrative being about Jeter getting injured and the Yankees comeback. If I was a Tigers fan, I'd think that the actual outcome of the game was also important. It was almost like ESPN didn't actually care that the Tigers won the game.

The Tigers shut out the Yankees 3-0 today.

Taking those 2 games in New York was huge.

Comerica Park is going to be electric on Tuesday with Justin Verlander taking the mound.

The starting pitching has been outstanding in the playoffs.

What did I say? Watch out for the Tigers, simply because they have the pitching to keep games low scoring.
I highly doubt the Yankees can beat Verlander twice, Scherzer one or two times to win this series.

I agree. I think at worst we're looking at Detroit going back to NY with a 3-2 lead, but realistically I think they end it in Detroit.

Cards are really kicking ass in San Fran! I hope they don't end up taking this series down to the wire again. GO CARDS!

The defending world champions are a very dangerous team.

1-0 game lead over San Francisco.

Nunez was all over everything in that at bat.

Edit-- Leyland with a Grady Little moment?

That got pretty tense at the end, but the Tigers pulled out a 2-1 victory.
