![]() Wolfe had several good plays, including: 1. 1 sack on Brady (he was the only DL to get a sack in the game) 2. 4 QB hurries, and a big hit on Brady (unfortunately Mays had PI called on the goal line). 3. None of the big 3rd down conversions were Wolfe's fault, and he was instrumental in a couple surges, where Von got TFL's. 4. On one sequence on 3rd down, Wolfe got pressure on Brady, causing him to throw the ball, which hit Von Miller in the hands (should have been a pick 6). 5. The next play (4th down), Wolfe was double-teamed, allowing Woodyard to come through the line untouched, forcing Brady to fumble for a 20 yard loss. Wolfe had 5 bad plays (out of 80 Defensive snaps) that the ball was ran toward him, and he was blocked out of the play (most happened early in the 1st quarter), when the Patriots first started their quick runs. Wolfe did crush the LOS a few times which closed down running lanes and resulted in short gains (where other players got the tackle). Could Wolfe get better? Yes. But he didn't play bad. 1. Derek Wolfe has 2 sacks. Elvis Dumervil has 3 sacks. No other Bronco DL has any sacks.
2. You want to talk about a player who had no effect on the game, that's Chandler Jones...finishing with 1 assisted tackle. Jones had no stats or hurries in the first half. I remember him grabbing Manning late in the game, but Manning still completed the pass. Manning also beaned him in the head once, for a batted ball. I told you Jones couldn't do anything against Beadles or Franklin. On the otherhand, Ninkovich owns Franklin...that hasn't changed. Chandler Jones (DE) - 18 tackles, 3 sacks, 4 TFL Derek Wolfe (DT) - 14 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 TFL |

As awful as Mays is, which is pretty damn bad, I don't see anybody who can replace him except Williams. And Woodyard is a solid talent, no doubt, but he is not fit for the mike. As an ex-safety, he's a remolded Ian Gold of sorts, and is best left chasing plays down from outside. Regardless, that whole middle of the field is weak as hell and ripe for picking and it is way too late to fix it this season.

Actually, he only played 95% of the snaps on Sunday. That's pretty low compared to the 99% he played against Houston or how he played every single snap against Pittsburgh. Mays playing a lot has nothing to do with injuries to other players.

At this point the only explanation I can come up with to explain how this complete dud is always on the field is that he has some real dirt on Elway and/or Fox. Some major murder/child molesting kind of dirt. Nothing else makes sense. Brooking is a thousand times better than Mays despite his bones being half fossilized.

DJ and That is short fro Dumb Jock/Jerkoff take your pick, is dumber that a rock.. Years ago they played him at Mike, but was relieved of that when they found out he could not relay the calls that were sent in from the sideline.. more so he could not make change calls if the call in from the sideline was for the wrong coverage when the O came to the LOS.. while he lead the team in tackles for a few years they were rarely if ever for a loss and almost all drag down tackles after the runner had positive yards most of those time was after the runner had a first down.. he is not the answer and by week 12 when he might be is in FOOTBALL shape to play it is most likely all over but the shouting.. most likely one of the other LBs will be coached up for the spot.. |

D.J. Williams is an athlete, though, and an underrated asset for the linebackers for years now. You can say he is as dumb of a rock, but there's no question that the capabilities of that linebacking crew plummeted even without an aging Williams. And mike wasn't a position Williams played naturally out of college, but he did get better at it in the pros. Old, coming out of suspensions Williams > wheelbarrow Mays.
