This comparison might be worthy had last year been Tebows rookie season. Eli progressed his 2nd year. Tebow is in a state of mess his 3rd year. Can you blame the jets for wanting him to punt protect instead of working on his mechanics? Sure. The gimmick plays aren't helping him become a legit starter in this league. But they are slowly evolving him into a hybrid gimmick position.

He'll get a legit shot again. He's never been given one when you think about it.

At this point I'm resigned to enjoying the haters in the game threads during Jets games. To hate our last playoff winning QB so much as to lower yourself to defending Kyle Sanchez' ****ty play... priceless.

Sanchez is the product of USC hype. He'll go the way of Leinhart soon enough. I'm not sure what kind of shot he's gonna get. Changing offensive playbooks can be considered shots. I would think if anyone could help Tebow in the NFL it's Sparano. So far it hasn't worked out though. It's not a good sign when they aren't looking at tebow as saving their season, but rather looking at him playing when the season is lost.

Depends on how this playbook is changed. You keep b****ing about that Buffalo game but we were already down multiple scores at half at which point Tebow had I think 4 attempts (3 complete)

Broncos got the ball in the 2nd half and it was 14-17! Then the 3 and outs came while the defense holds them to 2 field goals. 23-14. Then tebow presses and causes TOs which result in a blowout. So it was a close game when his attempts were low, then became a blowout when he started passing more.

10 points isn't a big hole. 14-17 in the 3rd. When they let him throw the game got away. 3 turnovers with 2 of them resulting in buffalo TDs. Defense kept holding buffalo to field goals in the 2nd half.

Huh? Difference is manning was coming back in that game. Tebow was pressing with each buffalo field goal made in that half.

I think it is pretty easy to spell it out from Tony. Every team knew Manning would be a stud. Obviously, not too many teams offered much for Tebow as we only got a 4th for him.

Well, remember now -- the Bengals didn't say "We're trading Carson Palmer. I want offers by tonight, and we'll be accepting whatever we can get." They sat back, said "Fine, whatever." That's how you trade a quarterback. Quarterback is a position that is very valuable if the timing is right, but teams aren't quick to give a lot of value under the theory of "Sure, we can always use a great quarterback." Because bringing one in often upsets the apple cart a bit with the one you've got.

But if you wait, and some team gets left without enough options (either because of injury or the draft not going like they hoped), you'll get more value.

With Tebow, the draft was coming, teams were unsettled as to what they might do (starters and backups). So you can't read too much into it, other than the obvious, that he wasn't perceived as a surefire franchise quarterback. He was perceived as what he is -- an enigma, who might be able to help you win off the bench, and perhaps start for you.

NEW YORK -- Jets owner Woody Johnson says backup quarterback Tim Tebow will "be with us for three years," and also backs struggling starter Mark Sanchez.

Johnson tells CNBC on Wednesday that despite some speculation that the Jets could try to trade Tebow after this season, his first in New York, the team will "absolutely" keep him for the duration of his contract.

Johnson adds that he and coach Rex Ryan have not discussed making a quarterback change, saying that Sanchez "played great" in a 23-17 loss to Houston on Monday night.

The Jets owner would not say the team would never make a switch because "never is a long, long time period," but adds that he sees "the same things in Mark Sanchez that I saw when I first met him."
