He averages 1200 a season receiving (and is currently on pace for the best season of his career). If he stays healthy he'll end up producing top 5 receiver in NFL history numbers.

While I agree if he continues he will be a top 5 WR in NFL history and should be in the HOF, both Moss and Owens are two of the best WR's in NFL history as well. There are more then a few that think they will struggle to make it in because of the off field stuff. I think is lame reason with Moss though. Marshall may find himself in that group when it is all said and done.

I'm dead serious. In 5 years as a full-time starter he has averaged over 90 catches a year and that is with missing ~ 5 games. On pace for ~ 1,000 catches, 13,000 yards, etc. Yeah -- that puts him up there. Torry Holt, Marvin Harrison, Randy Moss and a few other active players deserve it too. Maybe Hines Ward and Terrell Owens. I'm sure I am forgetting a few, but the dude has already made memories in his young career.

What have either of them really done off the field to have that rep though? They didn't make so many friends during their career, but neither of them had the kind of problems Marshall has.

Moss is thought to have a crappy attitude and taking plays off, but I don't remember him getting arrested.

Owens is a man child who craves attention on and off the field, but again, no suspensions or anything.

His off field behavior could prevent a HOF entry. T.O. Will be an example of that. Chris Carter is to an extent also. Haley has yet to enter cause he was an ass too.

Moss turned into a bit of a whiney tool, but he was never the problem-child that Owens was. Moss was more consistently excellent than Owens and was always a bigger playmaker.

Chris Carter's lack of rings isn't what is keeping him out of the HOF. It is because he played for the Minnesota Vikings.

A direct result of not having any rings.

As football has evolved into a passing league with easier rules for WRs (no more assaulting by DBs all the way down the field) it should produce more WRs entering the hall in the future. Marshall gets consistent years for a while those are gonna be big numbers

I don't think I agree with that. Owens was far more consistent, TO only played 9 more games than Moss but basically has an All-pro seasons worth of catches and yards over him. Moss was explosive as hell, the ultimate deep threat. I'd say TO was the better all around receiver though. Not by a lot, but he never seemed like he was stealing money from teams like Moss did in Oakland, the end of his time in NE, Tennesee, and now SF (burning up the season with those 9 catches in 2012 so far).

at the same age as Moss is now TO had 1000 yard season and 10 TDs

Marshall isn't going to get near the 90 TD mark. He's not a threat in the red zone like he should be.

Well he's almost halfway there and only 10 people in NFL history have hit 90 receiving TDs, so we'll just have to see.
