Mays isn't as bad as people say, but still not as good as we need him to be.

It's pretty obvious there is a major breakdown in the Defense, when your Free Safety (Moore) consistently leads the team in tackles.

I am guessing Elway would have gone with a LB with our 2nd round pick if they knew PM was healthy or would look as good as he has so far. I think the Oss pick was insurance if PM's neck flared up. They had too many things to overhaul this year so they went with the known quantity rather than try to desperately reach on someone who might be worse. I do wish they would move KM and get some sort of pick for him while his contract is appealing for his new team. I fear they are going to keep him around for insurance incase Willis or Ronnie get hurt and we end up having to cut KM next year because his deal is backloaded. |

Mays needs to be a role player. Quite frankly, I am surprised he even got this much of a shot in the NFL. I knew he could be a situational guy or special teamer, but for him to be a starter was beyond me. When you have guys from small schools who never have the ability to get into the NFL schooling you in the passing game (WR or TE) in a D-I AA program, odds are that isn't going to change in the NFL. Always will be a fan since he went to NDSU where I did, but that doesn't change the fact that he has a lot of weaknesses on the football field.
Last Sunday's game exposed everything Mays does wrong on the field, whether it is making the right adjustments or just flat out stinking in coverage. No way in Hell should a 5'11 ILB ever have to cover Gronkowski down the field. It is a hopeless battle. Gronk was already two steps or three steps behind Mays a second after the play starter. Just sad. |

Well, I think that's also due to Moore being fairly adept in run defense. He does make a good number of his tackles short of the first down

I know the result when Mays is starting especially against good teams.

Lofton, Hawthorne, Ryans, McClain were all available too. That's what's most frustrating.

How can you even say that even after just the Pats alone? He gets burned every game because he's just not good enough. He is a hard hitter and that is about the only thing he has going for him. We're lucky he didn't take out Miller. He hit Miller harder on that play than the Pats guy. Like someone else said, the Pats game revealed everything that is wrong with Mays. No speed, no instincts, no brains. He is a special teams guy, thats it!

I'm not saying it's the correct choice - I'm just saying it's what is.
For whatever reason, the coaches want Brooking taking WLB snaps with a Rookie behind Joe Mays. They have better insight into why they want to do it like this than I do. If I were to guess, I'd guess that it's because Mays is the best at being able to call adjustments at the line of scrimmage. |

You might be right, but right now we have to dance with who we brought to the prom. We're a soft team up the middle on defense at all 3 tiers. We'll never win consistently as long as that's the case. I don't care who our HOF QB is. It just seems to me that this defense needs to pretend that Tebow is the QB and it's all on them |

Not sure where those tackle numbers are from but he has 7 full tackles to his name the rest are assist. That's freaking two a game (little less). That's horse **** he sucks and needs to be benched.
