Arkansas beat Auburn 24-7....at Auburn.
Arkansas sucks this season....Auburn fans are probably already ready to kick Gene Chizik to the curb. A National Championship in 2010 doesn't mean much in 2012 in the ultra competitive SEC. Auburn is 1-4 (0-3 in the SEC)....and the one win was in OT to Louisiana-Monroe. |

SoCal's Updated Top 10
1. Alabama- Defending Champs have a bye this week. 2. Oregon- Very impressive beatdown of # 23 Washington in Eugene. 3. South Carolina- Pounding a Top 5 team puts the Ol Ball Coach at # 3. 4. Kansas State- Don't sleep on Optimus Klein. Very tough and well coached team. 5. Florida- As I've said before, Muschamp's defense is lights out in the second half so far this season. They've already compiled some impressive wins and I strongly considered putting them at # 4, but their offense is quite inconsistent. 6. Ohio State- Impressive beatdown of the Blackshirts defense. Can't remember the last time someone put 63 on Nebraska. 7. Notre Dame- Their secondary got exposed early but their defense recovered and set the tone later on. Run offense and Golson also looked much better than they have before, although they were playing one of the nation's worst defenses. 8. West Virginia- Defense is absolute trash....but they did win a game on the road against a Top 15 team. Smith remains the Heisman favorite in Dana Holgerson's variation of the Air Raid. Offense is rollin, rollin, rollin. 9. Florida State- FSU always seems to lose at least one and sometimes two of these games a year to teams that have no business beating them. They've got a ton of talent but Jimbo Fisher can't avoid the annual headscratcher upset in the ACC. That said NC State is a good team and Glennon and their backs can play. Impressed that the NC State defense, which was trash last week, held FSU's offense in check. The Noles are likely still ACC Champs, even though their national title dreams are likely finished. 10. Georgia- Shocked that they laid a complete egg in Columbia. Still a damn good team.

Anyone else think it's funny what is happening to Missouri in their inaugural SEC season? I bet many thought Vanderbilt would be "an easy game."

No. The 2011 K-State team felt like the 2011 Denver Broncos. Most of our wins, last year, came in the final moments (like Denver). I was getting a sense of deja vu, last year, with my Saturday and Sunday teams. This year's K-State team is much better, on defense. We are actually putting people away, early. Klein has been compared to Tebow, but that's where the comparisons stop...

At least my NDSU Bison are kicking ass. We destroyed the #3 DI-AA team by like 40 at home. Even with the scandal 10-15 of our players in, we still ballin' baby. |

But Klein's game in college is similar to what Tebow's was last year in the NFL. But in both cases, they won/win with grind it out football and offenses that feature QBs heavily in the running game. |

SoCal's Weekly Picks (and RIP to Beano Cook)
# 1 Alabama 29, Missouri 17 #9 LSU 17, # 3 South Carolina 16 # 4 Florida 28, Vanderbilt 13 # 5 WVU 46, Texas Tech 27 #6 Kansas State 24, Iowa State 22 #7 Notre Dame 26, # 17 Stanford 12 #8 Ohio State 36, Indiana 20 #10 Oregon State 22, BYU 13 #11 USC 30, Washington 17 #12 Florida State 48, Boston College 13 #13 Oklahoma 27, # 15 Texas 23 Pittsburgh 26, # 18 Louisville 25 #19 Miss. St. 23, Tennessee 20 #20 Rutgers 24, Syracuse 21 # 21 Cincinnati 49, Fordham 6 # 22 Texas A&M 37, # 23 La. Tech 20 # 24 Boise State 31, Fresno State 17 # 25 Michigan 38, Illinois 13 Miami Game North Carolina (4-2, 1-1 ACC) at Miami (4-2, 3-0 ACC) North Carolina comes into this game with an extremely explosive offense, most recently putting up almost half a hundred against Virginia Tech. Giovanni Bernard is going to have a monster game going up against what is probably the worst defense in college football. The Canes had no answer for ND's run game and they'll have massive struggles against Bernard and the explosive Heels. This is a critical game in the Coastal division as these teams will probably finish 1 and 2 in the division, although neither will play in the ACCG (UNC is currently on an NCAA imposed postseason ban, whereas Miami is expected to self-impose a postseason ban for the 2nd year in a row to continue to mitigate against potential sanctions). Miami's offense will score points aplenty against UNC's porous defense (although Duke Johnson is hobbled with a toe injury, still likely to play), but they will need to hit about 50 to win. That's how bad the UNC offense vs. UM defense matchup is....and it will put too much pressure on UM's offense to be absolutely perfect in order to prevail. North Carolina 46, Miami (Fla.) 35

South Carolina is going to beat the snot out of LSU KSU will win by 10+ points Notre Dame is going to lose Ohio State doesnt matter FSU doesnt matter (no one in the ACC does now) The RRR should be really good this year. Im hedging towards UT right now, just because OU's lines are in bad shape, but OU is going to run on UT for sure. Louisville is going to curbstomp Pitt. Thats a stupid prediction. aggy (sic) is going down to La Tech - bookmarket One thing is for sure, there are not a lot of interesting games this week among ranked teams. LSU/USCe, ND/Stanford, UT/OU and that pretty much sums up the good games. Big 12 related (because **** the other conferences that dont matter) Baylor vs TCU should be an interesting game. This is an old rivalry that got squashed under the mid-90s realignment. My Jayhawks suck, but they are a better team than they were last year. At least it took me to the 3rd quarter to turn the game against the sheep herders (KSUck) off this year. If we can just continue to get better and improve this year, hopefully next year will bring some more wins. I hate Turner Gill. Worst.Coach.Ever. He ****ed us for at least 3 years. |

Can't give away points like that when you need 50 to win and thru half a quarter you have 0
