KFC is up 1 -0 on WS. I was at the last Chen Sale game, we barely won that one thanks to a Danks dropped fly but hoping we can come back tonight, nothing like getting owned by a bad team during a penant run. |

Nobody has done it since Yaz in 1967....45 years. The A's have walked Miggy twice today and are trying to steer clear of him. Last night's hitting display by Miggy was bad ass. |

I read somewhere today that if you tie in a category with another player, you still are considered a Triple Crown winner....so if Miggy and Josh Hamilton tied in HRs to lead the league, it would still be considered winning the Triple Crown if he was also leading in batting average and ahead or tied in RBIs.

Bruce Chen continues his mastery of the White Sox. Sale pitched well, but got literally no runs in support.
Lead down to 2 games with 14 to go.

Ichiro went 7 for 8 today, as New York swept a doubleheader with Toronto.
Ichiro stole 4 bases in the second game. Andy Pettitte won the first game for the Yankees....his first game back after breaking his leg on June 27th. Yankees take a one game lead in the division over the Orioles. |

So around mid season I believe broncocalijohn was getting at me for a comment I made about how Mark Trumbo would possibly end up being a short term wonder boy.
Trumbo had a stellar first half, way ahead of his normal level, and his second half he has just bottom dropped hardcore. Striking out at a rate of 1 every 3 plate appearances, only hitting .211 with an OBP of .261, Slugging .339 and OPS of .600. To me, it seems his value is in between the two. 250ish average, .300ish OBP, and slugging .475-.500ish. Sort of an average player when it all boils down who has massive power, but misses a lot. |

WASHINGTON -- Gio Gonzalez became the majors' first 20-game winner in 2012, and the first pitcher for a Washington baseball team with 200 strikeouts since Walter Johnson in 1916, taking a shutout into the sixth inning Saturday to help the Nationals close in on their first NL East title by beating the Milwaukee Brewers 10-4.

In 56 games with the Yankees, Ichiro is batting .333.
I had a feeling Ichiro had some gas left in the tank and needed to go to a team with some bats around him in the lineup. I wonder if the Yankees will try and re-sign him to something like a 2 year deal after the season? |

Can anything go right today?
Miami up 19 and inside the GT 30 in the 2nd quarter....loses a guy to a gruesome injury, has a dumb fumble and are down 22-19 at the half? The Tigers are raping another opponent? I'm waiting for life to balance out. Like now.

Another day....another loss. This is a really bad time for a 4 game losing streak, BTW.
Half game lead....thats as slender as it gets.

The Angels beat the White Sox 4-2 tonight.
Their lead is trimmed to .5 games over Detroit. The last 2 weeks of the regular season are going to be exciting. |

Lost 5 in a row now. Thankfully Detroit lost both games of their doubleheader against Minnesota so the lead is up to 1. Get it the **** together Robin..Detroit isn't going to keep stepping on their own *****. Have to sweep the Tribe now.

If there were more than 10 games left, Kansas City might get even money to take the division at this point. Both the Tigers and the White Sox look like they have no interest in the postseason. |

I will cede that Cabrera is going to have a great chance at the MVP with his triple crown threat. He is hitting better while Trout's average has gone down about 25 points. He is doing incredible as a leadoff hitter but tough to deny Cabrera's run. |

Attended all 3 games of the Angels sweep over the Sox. Damn if we couldnt extend the season maybe a week. All 5 pitchers doing great but 2.5 games behind the As for the last spot. I guess I need the Rangers to kick ass over the A's this week.
Weaver took his 19th win today. CCy Young award? I am thinking so. |

Tigers beat the Royals 6-2 tonight.
Justin Verlander with 8 stellar innings to pick up the win. Prince Fielder did some yard work. Indians are up 1-0 over the White Sox in the 5th inning. |
