Such a ****ing overrated franchise philosophy.

It has sucked everywhere it has gone but NE and ATL...and ATL succeeded because they deviated from the Patriot Way many times.
the patriot way success is primarily due to Brady. You put a HoF QB on any team and that team's ability to win games is greatly enhanced. Bill Belly did nothing as a HC before Tom Brady.

"Easily get blown off the ball in the run game." -- Except, he was an exceptional run defender at Syracuse and has the solo tackles, TFL and has incredible quickness off the snap and was a sure-fire wrap up tackler. Not to mention, he closes in on the line off the edge very well.

Sounds like you did your due dilligence on him.

You're right, getting "blown off the ball" as a 4-3 DE was a bit over the top. How about this:

1. Jones could be a good run stopping 4-3 RDE, but I don't think he's a good pass-rusher.
2. 4-3 LDE might be more his calling, where 4-5 sacks per year would be sufficient.
3. Jones would be at his best, if he put on 20 lbs. and played 3-4 DE, where his long arms, height, and slight elusiveness would allow him to hold the line, and make an occasional play behind the LOS.

Either way, I don't think he's as good as Derek Wolfe.

You are so the next Mike Mayock. It would make for a great story, before you ran off-screen and deleted yourself.

Mayock was super-high on Jerel Worthy, just like you. Mayock thought the Broncos should draft Worthy at #25 overall...just like you.

And like you, he had no clue who Derek Wolfe was.

Mayock goes off measurables only, which is where Chandler Jones looks good...production in the pass-rush is where he begins to fall off (which is the primary job of a 4-3 RDE). Even Mayock didn't pick Jones in the 1st round.

No, you and Belicheat are alone in that arena.

You must have done a little too much meth with Derek Wolfe.

My opinion that Chandler Jones can be a good NFL player has nothing to do with Bill Belicheck. I hate the Patriots.

More tackles than Jones and Worthy, and only played in 3 preseason games. Thanks for asking.

What about Worthy, though? 3 solo tackles in 4 preseason games...impressive. Don't forget, he played exclusively against 2nd and 3rd string, while playing most of the snaps (so those tackle numbers are a little inflated).

We have to find something good to bet on Crick vs. Worthy 2012.

How about if Crick doesn't get 10 sacks you have to jump off the top of Sports Authority Field?

Nah, but whoever gets more tackles and sacks wins master OMane GM of the Year award. OMGMOTY

Also if you win, I never mention again that you're emo and deleted several threads, and I never mention Worthy. If I win, you never mention Crick, or my deleted threads.

Here's my proposed trophy:

The Patriots’ offensive line is in shambles since Matt Light retired, Logan Mankins, recovering from knee surgery, Volmer has been suffering from back injuries. Brian Waters arguably the best player left on the team is a no-show.

Let the madness begin!

I watched him play, and it's pretty obvious the guy will excel as a 3-4 OLB. Obvious to me anyway.

Was he playing 3-4 OLB in preseason? I was under the impression that the Pats switched to a 4-3.

I should stop trying to find reasons that Jones might not succeed, and just watch to see what happens. Who freaking knows, at this point. It doesn't really matter how good he is, as long as we beat them.
