Default Great Pivot By Mrs. Obama

This morning I was saying to the wife that I hoped we would see two crucial pivots during the DNC to shove some of the more ridiculous points from the RNC up their asses.

First, I said that they should pivot this business about the Republicans claiming Obama resents success. The claim, basically, is that two people who came from nothing and graduated Harvard law school, somehow are not successful and are actually jealous of others' success. Michelle did that beautifully. "We don't think success is measured in money." "We believe that, when you walk through that door, you don't slam is shut behind you."

The other pivot I'm hoping to see is on the gas prices issue. Yes, gas prices have doubled in the past four years, but what does that actually tell us? That there was an economic apocalypse right before Obama took office. I was shocked to hear that prices fell all the way to $1.60 in 2008, because I had forgotten just how bad it was. Something else that has nearly doubled while Obama has been in office? The Dow. The Dems need to take this opportunity to shove the point up Romney's ass and break off the handle--Romney is exactly right, prices of lots of things, including stocks, have increased under Obama because those prices had basically been obliterated just before he took office.

I think the speech of the night was by Deval Patrick. Excellent speaker. They were all very strong, but Patrick was strongest, IMO.

Luv ya man ....................lol

Michelle laid down a barn burner of a speech.

She connected because they actually lived like we do.
Romney's wife talked about living in in laws basement was a hardship.
lol...........like daddy Romney wasn't helping poor little Mitt.

Think this a great speech.....knocked it out of the park course the bar was low with Ann Romney's "I LOVE WOMEN"............WHAT A CROCK. We love women but no attention to our policies or anything we have said in the past. Typical hypocrite BS.

Also do me a favor AND HANG AROUND. Smacking down these righties is a full time job. They are like weeds....unless you get the root they just keep coming back..................lol

I think we saw a much larger, more indicative pivot tonight. One that makes a positive argument for Obama's four years, that totes what he has actually accomplished (which is quite a bit in terms of policy and symbolism). Deval Patrick signaled as much when he asked Democrats (i.e. liberals) to grow a back bone and stand up for what we believe.

From an a-political perspective, the first night of the DNC was far better executed than the RNC. If we're suppose to believe Romney is this great manager and fixer, a great steward, how could the RNC be so out-shined by the lazy-loos running the DNC.

I'll be interested to see how Clinton does tomorrow night. There's a lot of pressure on him after Michelle's performance, and Slick Willy has a big ego.

When your purpose is "Smacking down these righties" and not an intelligent debate, you lose all credibility. Frankly you, your ignorant threads and demands for answers to stupid questions aren't worth anyone's time. We're all a little crazy here on the WRP. And I'm definitely no exception. But you've gone to an extremely low level. If your purpose was to be the "bane of our existence", you've failed. The only thing you've become is the next clown on ignore.

You know BUBBA...........he is gonna bring it.

This is how you run a convention.

Ramp up higher and higher each night.

Republicans were highly concerned watching Michelle.............

Clinton and Barack are gonna light it up.

debating you is useless...............you aren't even an adult or a man.

You refute the irrefutable and won't take responsibility for your party's actions.

Stupid question was asking how republicans whom all called for spending cuts and balancing the budget and paying down the debt can go along with your party tacking on a huge tax cut for the rich on top of Bushs cuts to the wealthy ?

The only thing stupid is you.............you know its wrong and again like the little man you are you will not admit it.

My favorite speech so far is the barn burner delivered by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.

He took Romney to the woodshed!

Totally exposed Mittens' awful record of failure as governor of that state.

Castro's speech was great. "Freedom isn't free but neither is opportunity."

Trickle down fails but what do you do work with rich people who put profits ahead of people? They want 10% return from their money and are insulted by 2%. The rich believe they deserve more and have earned the right. A billion dollar rattle is considerably louder than a $50,000 one at the polls.

Elections are stolen everyday. I wonder how this will play out.

538 is usually spot on. Nate does a great job. www.electoral-vote.com isn't as in depth, but provides good aggregate analysis as well. More brief, succinct synopsis on the events as well. Encourage you all to check it out.

(And BTW, the DNC is hitting grand slams. Bringing out three actresses tonight is going to do well for the women vote.)

I use 270towin.com. The interactive map is great and it's got the latest polls for each state plus the electoral history for each state.

As far as the Castro reference, that's funny. My wide and I were watching and when Michelle Obama said that she knows firsthand how difficult the problems are that come across his desk, I turned to the wide and said: you just watch. The headline on FOX News will be "PRESIDENT SHARING NATIONAL SECRETS WITH FIRST LADY."

Yeah, we know, every speech made at the RNC stunk, but every speech at the DNC hit it out of the park. The enlightened.

Watching and listening, I had the same thought.

WTF was Romney thinking when he publicly met his 'money men' on a Cayman registered 160foot yacht parked outside the RNC??

His clueless arrogance should make 'Conservatives' cringe.

Basically when you are filthy rich and forced to soil yourself with the masses for the sake of pretense, you have the option to return to your real life aboard a yacht which is the true representation of who you are.

The middle class? We get to be talked down and lied to then go home and pop a Bud.

It's called massive inflation.

Wow, that was crude, but it's to be expected from a Socialist. The Dow dropped 2000 points after Obama entered office (after holding steady for the previous two months). The Dow's rise can attributed to Bernanke with QE1, QE2, Operation Twist, and hints at QE3.

The federal funds rate has been set at 0% throughout Obama's presidency, screwing U.S. citizens out of interest earnings, but creating an enormous windfalls for banks.

Massive inflation.

Yeah --- where did that come from.

Yah, well, when you spend more than a $ trillion a year on defense -- and then monetize the debt by printing even more dollars....

The only beneficiaries of both of these policies are...guess whom?

The US financial elite.

No surprise that both parties (under Bush and now under Obama) pursued both policies..

Obama = Bush

What amazes me is that so many of you clowns are taking the conventions seriously -- as if this is real democracy in action. No, the real action is in the smoke filled rooms, behind the scenes. The real players are the banksters -- who are now discussing (in private) which candidate will best serve their interests.

Same old shyte.

What are you talking about, massive inflation? It's been below three percent for most of the Obama presidency, and below four the entire time. http://inflationdata.com/inflation/i...tion_chart.htm. And how, in any event, could four years of single-digit inflation account for a 100% increase in gas prices?
