The Old Fashioned. Few bar tenders can make a good one and everyone has a slightly different recipe.

But, hands down, the best Bourbon Old Fashioned (vs Rye) can be found at Cipriani Dolce in Grand Central Station. The do it Wisconsin style with an orange and cherry. It is their black cherries hand carried from Italy that set it a notch above anyone else.

One shot of Goldschlager Jäger and Rumplemintz together. Not for the weekend warriors, lightweights and wannabe drinkers.

Serve a few fingers over a chunk of ice or two. Yes, it's a little more expensive, but oh Jesus, Mary, and Joseph is it worth it!
Way too much peat for me. I smell like a campfire for days afterwards. But when I am in the mood it is darn tasty. As an aside, I have a Dutch friend who actually uses it like medicine whenever he has congestion.

I haven't tried that one yet. Seen it, but never bought it since it cost more and i figured it would taste about the same as Jack Daniels. Was it worth the extra $$

I am a beer man. No sipping that stuff but if you are having a Cru beer, no need to guzzle.

I think so. Went to Total Wine and had a small bottle of it for like $8.99. I had never had it before last night so got the smaller bottle to sample it. It's smoother than the original. I'd buy it again.

Serious question (from one who has only gone to bars when on the road)...

How do they survive...with the DUI standards being lowered every day? "

I drink a few beers every night. If I consumed the same amount at a bar, for significantly more money, what likelihood I'd get home safely that night?

No thanks, I'll stay at home.

The difference between Gentlemen Jack and regular Black Jack is the difference between banging a 300 lb fatty and banging Scarlett Johansson. You'll get wet either way but the experience is completely different.

I have plenty of conventional Jack for novelty's sake as much as anything but Gentlemen's Jack is the way to go.

I'll take Makers Mark above all though. And they have the prettier bottles. I'm a sucker for booze that displays nice. It makes me feel more cultured and less alcoholic-like.

Oh, but in most cases when I'm drinking at home, I might as well be drinking while wearing a skirt. I like fruity drinks. Hard liquors all go down like kerosene.

Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey on the rocks. Maybe a dash of water.

Haven't tried that one, but I love another Islay distillery Bowmore. They have a ton of great single malts. Really smooth and smokey. You can get a 12 year for $30 -$40, if money is no object they also have a bunch of rarer bottles at 10K or more.

lol. I'm not going to lie. I do like buying liquor that is nicely packaged and then put it on the shelves just to look at. I always tell myself that I'm not going to drink it, then a few days later....I drink it.
