In between speeches complaining of not getting enough government support, speeches complaining of too much big government, and a large selection of random moments of insanity the GOP kept the vote suppression train rolling. Why let the poor minorities have all the fun when they can go after Ron Paul supporters as well?

Funny liberals worrying about Ron Paul, a guy they mock until they can use him of course.

Many of the disenfranchized (particularly older African-Americans) don't have birth certificates. This has been pointed out time and again. Therefore they can't get registered even if they have to funds and transportation to get an ID. Why can't you wrap your feeble little mind around this? It's further been pointed out that there are only a handful of cases nationwide of someone voting under the name of a different individual, the kind of fraud this is supposedly designed to stop. In other words, something is being fixed that ain't really broke. Additionally, conservatives are allegedly all about being faithful to the constitution. Where does it say an inidivdual has to have an ID to excercise their voting rights? It's a right every individual has simply by being a citizen. Requiring an ID amounts to a poll tax, which ain't in my copy of the Constitution. Finally, you have the Republican ON TAPE admitting that the laws are designed to help Romney win in Pennsylvania by disenfranchizing likely Democratic voters, and the other individual who actually helped write one of the laws having a racist exchange via email with one of his constituents. But this is all about ensuring the integrity of the voting process, right? GTFO.

I'll bet that SC has an exception process for people that don't have a BC. and the Constitution does address voting an the rules about voting. Guess you need to brush up...i don't know...maybe take an opportunity and read it. :p

Federal court rejects Texas voter ID law
WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal court on Thursday rejected a Texas law that would require voters to present photo IDs to election officials before being allowed to cast ballots in November. A three-judge panel in Washington unanimously ruled that the law imposes "strict, unforgiving burdens on the poor" and noted that racial minorities in Texas are more likely to live in poverty. http://news.yahoo.com/federal-court-...161316144.html A defeat for organized crime, a.k.a. the republican party. |

They barred Ron Paul's delegates from the convention. I bet they didn't bar Romney's delegates from the 2008 election (all 2 of them.) They agreed to let RP speak if he went along with their platform. He refused.

They also didn't want any part of Smirk & Dick. When was the last time one of the major parties didn't feature its last sitting president at its convention? These clowns are hoping America has forgotten how disastrous their policies were for America during the Bush Junta. |

I really haven't seen anyone saying it is racist per se. The concern is that it affects poor people extremely disproportionately. And of course it does. Now, minorities are disproportionately poor, so there is an indirect racial effect as well.
But in any case it's much easier to pretend the objection is based on race, because it is much easier to raise a specious objection to that, given the utter lack of defensibility of laws intended to address a problem that doesn't exist. Last edited by manchambo; 08-30-2012 at 08:07 PM.. |

this is a republic. it is designed to be one. show ID or don't vote. hell, if i had my way, you'd have to pass a math test to vote. (i.e. make change for a purchase.) Half of Amerjika would fail.
oh no, not politically correct. |

If I had my way, only those who have a net loss in taxes to fund our government could vote.

So when no McCain signs were let into Obama's 2008 DNC speech at Invesco Field, it was voter suppression.
I think this calls for a MENSA application. |

... I'd love to know what the political persuasions were on that panel, since the excuse they gave is hilarious and pathetic.According to their logic, then -- It is "strict and unforgiving" to expect ID to check out a library book, ride on an airplane, cash a check, get a job, open a bank account, buy a car, or enter a federal building. OH how oppressive this country is! Worse, people actually believe that excuse. All it tells me is that the Dems are knee-deep in voter fraud and want to keep it that way. The gullibility of liberals never ceases to amaze. |
