I missed another classic win by the White Sox last night because I wanted to watch duh bears instead.

Sox jumped out to a 7-2 lead only to give up 6 runs in the top of the 9th, no worries, they got 2 in the bottom of the inning to win the game and stretch their lead to 2 1/2 over los tigres

Wait, what? Beckett has a freakin 5.+ ERA this year and a WHIP of 1.33.

2-4 against the AL East, giving up 28 earned runs in 51 innings pitched. 63 baserunners. 38 K's.

2008 and 2009 he was terrible in the postseason.

He is very inconsistent and a locker room headcase. Red Sox fans are thrilled he is gone.

Look up the history of AL pitchers going to the NL over the last 5 years and you will see they get better by a full run. Soon Boston will be crying about keeping their HC.

50 year old Roger Clemens pitched tonight for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League.

Sounds like his fastball topped out at 88 mph.

His line from the game was very solid:

3 1/3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K, 37 pitches.

Beckett is a darkhorse you shouldn't count on.

The Skeeters are an Independent team, no affiliation. He should've dominated like he did because most of these guys are terrible, speaking on a professional level. Went to a Skeeters game and the offense was a joke against average pitchers.
Interesting note, Scott Kazmir plays for the Skeeters and has pitched AWFUL. Goes to show how terrible he is now.

To be fair, Beckett would have to do this just to be mediocre. I don't know what's happened to him in the past 12+ months, but it got ugly fast. I didn't think the 3-5 mph he lost on his fastball alone could be responsible for this, but who knows.

I agree....you can't ignore his overall body of work.

A change of scenery will probably light a fire under his ass and motivate him.

Plus it doesn't hurt that he is going back to the National League.

I think the big point you brought up is going back to the NL. No teams that are stacked from the one to nine hitters to face. Right now I'm more worried about Kemp. Since being tossed he's looked like ****.

White Sox started their game with Seattle batting round in the 1st inning but were only held to a 3 run lead, the Bases were loaded before Seattle's 9th batter flied out to end the inning.

Then slowly but surely the WS made their way back and it was 2-3 Seattle when Wise hit a HR to tie. WS went on to score 2 more times and hold of Seattle for their 5th win in a row. I was hoping the Tigers would have dropped the soap and let us go up 3 1/2 games but alas they found away to stay within 2 1/2.

Something is going to have to break soon, one of these teams is going to lose it and drop out of contention.

I wonder if that was why Ventura decided to stick up for his guy (AJ) and get kicked out with him. I figured it was a great time to spark the club and remind them that the Tigers are still hot on their heals.

I've been very pleasantly surprised how good the Sox have been. They have to gut it out one more month. It will be tough. If Sale doesn't get anymore arm problems and Peavy can get more run support when he pitches they could hold Detroit off. Gotta keep Paulie healthy and Dunn has to get to 45 HRs.
Chicago needs to get to about 89 or 90 wins to win it.

I think you're crazy to count on Beckett to be great.
Maybe he pulls a Randy Johnson out of his ass like Randy did when he was traded to the Astros, but I doubt it. He's just so inconsistent I wouldn't want to touch him, plus he's 32 years old.

2010 he was awful, 2009 above average, 2008 average, 2007 above average, 2006 awful

7 innings 4 hits 1 ER 2 BB and 9 Ks.

Prince Fielder and Delmon Young with back to back HRs.

Tigers beat the Angels 5-2 today and take 2 out of 3 at home to take the series.

I really like the fact that Ventura picked the perfect time to get tossed from a game. The team wasn't expecting it and he proved he would back them up and provided a spark.

Too bad it is raining today it would be nice to see them sweep the Mariners with that momentum behind them.

Curtis Granderson hit his 200th career HR today.

Granderson joined Rodriguez, Jeter, Swisher, Mark Teixeira, Raul Ibanez, Eric Chavez and Andruw Jones in the 200-homer club on the Yankees roster.

First time in the history of the major leagues to have 8 players on a team with 200+ career HRs.

I'm sure everyone will go ROBBLEROBBLEROBBLETIGERSHOMERROBBLE, but the Tigers have gotten jobbed twice on games that have ended prior to regulation.

This is an antiquated rule. With field and turf technology being what it is now, as well as the league and teams having the means to reschedule make-up games nowadays with few logistical issues, there's no reason to halt a game if the two teams play each other later in that season.

Earlier in the season, the Tigers had a game stopped in the 5th inning in which they were down 4-1, but had the bases loaded before the game was called. They played the Red Sox the next day.

For games like this where the two teams don't meet again, I don't know what the solution is. It's always just seemed to me that you should finish the game at some point.

^ The Yanks have 195 HR's this season. The next closest team (White Sox) has 169. Problem is they rely too much on the long ball to score. May be an issue in the postseason...

Miggy and Peralta both went yard and Delmon Young broke a 4-4 tie with a bases loaded double in the 7th inning.
