Not really, it's very rare that a team has such a proven stud RB willing to trade him. I can't think of any recent trades that exactly went bad for the receiving team either. Not for a back of MJD's caliber.

Lynch is interesting, what did the hawks give up to get him? That could be a clue as to what the Jags will want for MJD. |

He only played for New England from '04 to '06 but '04 was the best year of his career and they won the Super Bowl that season. MJD is three years younger than Dillon was and is a more versatile back, an ideal fit for our system. If I was running the Broncos FO I'd offer a conditional pick that is a first rounder if the Broncos make the playoffs and is a 2nd rounder if not. |

Were are talking Denver's 1st which will be in the mid 20's. There is so much fail in the 20's that it would be a wise move to sacrifice that selection for the best RB in the NFL as of last year. |

Lol the Skins got raped. If you think that trade sets the standard asking price you are nuts. RBs being easier to find changes the trade value so your question isn't really valid.

I disagree, I think the skins did get raped on that trade, especially when you consider the money they had to give Portis. Compare the careers of Champ and Portis and you have to wonder why the skins parted with a HoF CB, and a second round pick, for a RB that did "ok" for them.

Obviously, if you can pick up a quality back on the cheap that's ideal. However, when you have a 2-year window to build a Superbowl contending team around your 36-year-old QB and you only have one decent proven back on the roster, and that back is north of 30, you better do something. If Willis breaks a rib, I really don't want to read the words starting RB Lance Ball. Especially, with the brutal schedule on the horizon.

If we had a young QB starting it would be a completely different story and I would actually probably be against trying to acquire MJD, but our window of opportunity is not very big so if there is a chance to add ELITE offensive talent, you do it |

If the asking price is a first you make the trade. If its less you make the deal. You can't say to them well Lynch went for a 4th a few years ago and Faulk went for this 15 years ago so here is our best offer.
