First perfect game in Mariners history. Couldn't have happened to a better player. Felix deserves it. What a stud. Long live the King.

I had no idea just how rare perfect games were. Only 23 ever?!?!?! I guess what makes them feel less rare is that 25% of the all time perfect games have been thrown in the last three years, 3 this year alone.

Think about how long the game has been played and how many games have been pitched and there have only been 23 perfect games. |

Prince Fielder is the ****.
I do not regret spending 1/6 of my payroll on him in fantasy baseball. He's definitely paid for that and then some. |

Tigers beat a good Orioles team 5-3 tonight.
Prince Fielder with 2 HRs and 4 RBIs and Miggy added his 31st HR on the season. Nice comeback win....now we need Kansas City to finish off the White Sux. |

Anyone care to make a small wager on whether Miguel Cabrera (.332 after going 2-2 tonight) ends up surpassing Mike Trout (.343 after going 2-2 so far tonight) in batting average this season?
Approximately 40 games left. Loser has to change their avatar to either Trout or Cabrera for the duration of the postseason. |

Itchy Ho with 2 HRs for the Yankees tonight.
Ichiro has been a nice addition for the Yankees. He doesn't have to be the star of the team like he was for Seattle. Ichiro can bat at the end of the lineup for the Yankees and do his thing. I've always found myself rooting for him to do well....he used to be a very exciting player to watch. I'm hoping he sticks around and produces long enough to get to 3,000 hits, which would be amazing, considering he didn't start playing in the majors until he was 28 years old. At the end of this season, Ichiro will probably be sitting right around 2,600 hits. He'd probably have to play 3 more seasons after this one to reach 3,000 career hits. I think he'll get to the 3,000 hit mark. |

I honestly think he might come back to the Mariners if they want to for a cheap deal, he plays out his final year with the Mariners, struggling but finishing out a great career with "his" team. |

Stick him on a team where he is surrounded with talent, like he is right now, and he will produce in the lineup, while still having an above average glove, arm, and speed. I don't know if he will start for 3 more years, but I could see him in a starting lineup for at least 2 more years. Last edited by SouthStndJunkie; 08-19-2012 at 08:10 PM.. |

I'd be willing to bet Ichiro is more the .280 hitter than the .300+ hitter. You're missing the key thing though, who will sign him? Surround him with talent, what high up there team wants to spend a lot of money on an average outfielder? |

I guess a lot of it depends on his asking price. I think he'll get the 439 hits he needs to reach 3,000 career hits. That's all I'm saying. I've been wrong before though....I thought Pudge Rodriguez and Johnny Damon would both get to 3,000 hits. Pudge fell short by 156 hits and unless someone else signs Johnny Damon, he will fall short by 231 hits. Damon may get one more shot next season, but even then, I don't think he will get as many at bats as he needs to get the 231 hits he needs over the next few years. Omar Vizquel keeps plugging along at 45 years of age, but he doesn't get many at bats and still needs 134 hits to reach 3,000 career hits. Last edited by SouthStndJunkie; 08-20-2012 at 12:26 PM.. |

Roger Clemens returning to mound HOUSTON -- Roger Clemens has signed with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League and is expected to start for them on Saturday at home against Bridgeport (Conn.). The 50-year-old right-hander was acquitted in June of charges he lied to Congress when he denied using performance-enhancing drugs. |

Oakland Athletics right-hander Bartolo Colon has been suspended 50 games after testing positive for testosterone, the commissioner's office announced Wednesday.
The suspension, due to violating the league's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, is effective immediately. Colon, 39, is 10-9 with a 3.41 ERA this season for the Athletics. He won the 2005 AL Cy Young Award while with the Angels. |

If he'll play for cheap the Yanks would probably consider keeping him. And Ichiro wanted to leave Seattle and wanted to play for the Yankees. It was a mutual interest deal. He wants to go out playing for a winner.

Chris Sale strikes out 13 Yankees for his 15th win. White Sox continue to remain in 1st by 2 games over Detroit. Not sure how much longer we can keep this up.

Dodgers get swept by the Giants. That's like the Broncos losing, at home, to the Raiders. You just don't do that!

Jeter homered in every game but the WS still out homered the Yanks including a Youklis grand slam. I thought Ventura's move to lift Floyd early helped save the 1st game. It was a gusty move. I really like Ventura's coaching. |
