When Doug Fister is on, he reminds me of a tall Greg Maddux the way he locates and controls his pitches.

Sox trade for Liriano

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news...s_cws&c_id=cws

Kinda surprised since they roughed him up the last time they faced him.

Would have preferred to see them get Dempster but Williams made a great move getting Youkilis who has already won them some games with late inning hits/homers.

The White Sox can have Francisco Liriano.

Liriano has had an ERA over 5.00 for 3 of the last 4 years.

2009: 5.80 ERA
2010: 3.62 ERA
2011: 5.09 ERA
2012: 5.31 ERA

That said, Kevin Youkilis was a great addition to the White Sox.

The San Francisco Giants completed a trade Tuesday to acquire outfielder Hunter Pence from the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Phillies will receive outfielder Nate Schierholtz, Class AA catcher Tommy Joseph, and Class A pitcher Seth Rosin in exchange for Pence.

PHILADELPHIA -- Shane Victorino will hear an unfamiliar sound at Chavez Ravine: cheers.

The Phillies traded the two-time All-Star center fielder to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday for reliever Josh Lindblom and minor league pitcher Ethan Martin.

Justin Verlander's streak of 63 straight games of pitching 6 innings or more will probably be broken tonight because of a rain delay.

That blows.

Wait, the Tigers game was called, and made final, in the top of the 6th when they had the bases loaded and 2 out in a 4-1 game?

Yep....Jim Leyland wasn't happy about it.

They played in a downpour for a few innings and then they stopped it when the Tigers had the bases loaded and two outs.

Let them play out the top half of the 6th and then stop the game.

Actually, they should have probably stopped the game a few innings earlier the way it was raining.

No, two on and two outs. Saddest is the 63 game streak Verlander had of going into the 6th inning on his starts. Of course there could be an asterick by any continuation of that since he stopped based on a shortened game.

BTW, Angels creeping to 3 games out of 1st place Rangers. 6 to 2 and Weaver goes to 14 and 1. **** YEAH!

No, the bases were loaded.
Completely idiotic IMO, they should do a continuation today of the game.

Also, Pujols is so good, that a season of hitting .285, 31 homeruns, 104 RBI's and an OPS of .856 is considered horrible for him.

His streak was 63 games of completing 6 innings, which is even more impressive.

It sucks that it was stopped due to rain.

Well, he gave up 4 runs and threw 107 pitches through 5 innings. So his night wasn't going to last much longer either way.

He only needed to last one more inning for the streak to stay intact.

Oh well....time to move on.

The Tigers need to start winning games again.

They took over first place and then let the White Sox take it right back.

Yeah but unfortunately for the Tigers, their hot streak lasted about 10 seconds, and the White Sox didn't give up a ton of ground.

For as good as this roster is, I'm really surprised at how inconsistent they are. Again, a lot of that blame has to be heaped on Leyland. They put together a bit of a run, so I'm holding off on the fire Leyland talk until I see where they are at the end of the season. There's no reason this team shouldn't be in first place by a sizable margin.

Is it me, or do the Red Sox take longer to complete a game than most of the other teams?

It seems like every time I watch them play, the game runs about 3 and a half hours.

Albert Pujols has seen his numbers steadily increase since his incredibly slow start to the season.

Pujols is now batting .289 with 24 HRs and 76 RBIs.

At the end of April, through 92 at bats, Pujols was battting .217 with 0 HRs and 4 RBIs.

As a Tigers fan, the Angels are the team I least like to play, with the Rangers being the team I least like to play after them.

Doug Fister pitched a gem tonight.

Fister with a perfect game through 5 2/3 inning and almost had a shutout.

Still ended up with a complete game 4 hitter with 1 ER 0 BB and 6 Ks.

The Tigers beat the Indians 6-1 and the Angels beat the White Sox....so Detroit is within 1.5 games of the White Sox, who seem like they are winning almost every game lately.

Derek Jeter sure is having a nice season for being 38 years old.

Jeter is batting .314 on the year and keeps going back and forth with Miguel Cabrera in the American League lead for hits.

He is on pace to get 212 hits on the season.

Jeter keeps climbing the all time hits leader board with 3,228 career hits.

That puts him 14th all time.

He should move up to 11th place all time by the end of the season.

****ing Tigers led off the bottom of the 9th inning with an Austin Jackson triple and couldn't bring him home with the game tied up 5-5 versus Cleveland.

Infante struck out, they intentionally walked Miggy and Prince, and then Quintin Berry hit into a double play.

Extra innings coming up.

Cards have gone 8-2 in their last 10 and lost ground to the Reds. Until today, anyway. Cincy finally lost one and the Cardinals need to take advantage tonight.
