Baseball can't start up soon enough on Friday.

It's boring in the summer without baseball games being played during the week.

It's only been 4 days since regular season games were played, but it feels like 2 weeks.

Justin Verlander shook off his All-Star performance to toss 8 innings of 3 hit shutout ball to beat Baltimore 4-0.

Tigers beat the Angels 8-6 and the Red Sox beat the White Sox 5-1 tonight.

Tigers within 2.5 games of the White Sox.

Andrew McCutchen is batting .370 with 22 HRs and 65 RBIs despite having very little help around him in the lineup.

The Pirates were lucky to sign him when they did.

NL MVP if he keeps it up.

Nice win for the Tigers tonight, 7-2 over the Angels.

That's 2 out of 3 from the Angels, with one more game to go in the series.

I don't like playing the Angels, they always play Detroit tough.

Doug Fister with an excellent start....I look for a great second half from him.

The Miami Marlins have approached the Boston Red Sox about a blockbuster trade that would send left fielder Carl Crawford and a prospect to South Florida for infielder Hanley Ramirez and closer Heath Bell, according to three officials with knowledge of the talks who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because negotiations are ongoing.

An exciting team that's getting better as the season progresses. They're clicking at just the right time, and if they can turn it around and get into the playoffs, Leyland deserves just as much credit as I was giving him blame.

This team has as much chemistry as the 2006 team, which scares me to say.

Time for the Giants to put an end to Casilla closing. Last 5 out of 8 save chances blown. The hard way. Like giving up 2 run homers with a 2 run lead.

Really? Wow lol.
Sending Hanley back to the Red Sox is interesting.
My thinking would be the Marlins would then trade Crawford for whatever they could get and not have to pay him.

The Tigers take 3 out of 4 games over a tough team in the Angels.

Bring on the White Sox!

Boston came back to beat the White Sox 3-1 tonight to help the Tigers out again.

Detroit is now 1.5 games back of Chicago....with Chicago coming into Detroit for a 3 game series this weekend.

I picked the worst weekend ever to go camping.

I want to be glued to the tv this weekend, but not going to happen.

Go camping and have fun, there will be plenty of games left down the stretch.

Where are you camping this weekend?

CLEVELAND -- Jim Thome hit his 610th home run to pass Sammy Sosa and move into seventh place on the all-time list.

Thome led off the fourth inning for Baltimore on Friday night and connected off Cleveland's Derek Lowe. It was the 41-year-old's first homer since being acquired by the Orioles from the Philadelphia Phillies on July 1, and sixth of the season.

Big win for the Tigers tonight, 4-2 over the White Sox.

Quintin Berry with an awesome catch to rob Paul Konerko to end the game.

Justin Verlander went 8 innings and gave up 2 earned runs.

Tigers only .5 games back of the White Sox for first place in the division.

BOOM!

Brennan Boesch with an Earl Weaver special....a 3 run HR off Chris Sale to give the Tigers a 5-1 lead over the White Sox in the 6th inning.

If Detroit wins this game, they will be in first place in the division.

Rick Porcello hasn't pitched a complete game in his career yet.

He only has 88 pitches through 8 innings today and deserves the chance to finish this one off.

Austin Jackson with 2 more RBIs today, to give hime 4 RBIs on the day.

Jackson is really developing into a stud at the plate and in CF.

Batting .317 on the year, is cutting down on his strikeouts, and is hitting for more and more power every year.

7-1 Tigers lead.

I hated trading Curtis Granderson, but seeing the development of Austin Jackson has made it more palatable.

Plus we got Max Scherzer, Daniel Schlereth, and Phil Coke in that trade.

Austin Jackson is only 25 years old, while Curtis Granderson is already 31 years old.

Granderson has developed into a heck of a power hitter, but Austin Jackson is developing into a more well rounded player, who will hit for a lot higher average than Granderson and still has a lot of upside to his overall game.

That said, I'll always root for Curtis Granderson, as he is a good guy and was one of my favorite Tigers.
