Having lived in the Netherlands recently, and having attended UEFA qualifying matches, I can say that I know that the Dutch people were expecting great things from this team after the last World Cup. I dont think things are panning out the way they had hoped, and that's a shame cause I'm really a fan of Wesley Sneijder.

I kinda wonder how they came up with Group A to begin with.

I want this to be the game that goes to PKs. I'd like to see France go through though. I also want to see England's game go to PKs.

**** no, i'll take any goal that puts the French in the lead and hopefully hold it. If it's a handball, ala Henry, I don't care.

This Euro Cup needs to be super charged with a little more drama. Now that Germany won comfortably, Im hoping we'll start to see these PK games. And for it to come in the France-Spain game, it would just take the intensity to another level.

Alrighty then. Inlaws from Texas just headed home this morning after 5 days of fun. My wife is wiped out and we are just going to hang out, do laundy, and crash at home this weekend. Thank God! Now I can sit down, kick back, and enjoy the games today and tomorrow with some great leftover food and beers. Looking forward to today's match, especially with the big game history between these two teams. Spain could cement their place in history as one of the greatest European squads ever if they win Euro2012. France could go a long way to erasing the embarrasment of WC2010 with a quality win today. Should be a fantastic start to the game. Hope all who want to tune in are able to, and here is to a great contest!

It is a stupid seeding technique, the host teams (Poland and Ukraine) get seeded in the top layer along with the top 2 ranking teams (Spain and Germany). It just happened that group A got the weakest team from each seeding layer except the weakest layer. They got Russia from layer 2, Greece from layer 3 and czech republich from layer 4 I think.

Group B got Germany from layer 1, Holland from layer 2, Portugal from layer 3 and Denmark from layer 4.

Artistic, and wonderfully executed by Spain. 1-0. Love that Alba didn't dive on contact, but looked to complete the run of play and served a perfect ball for the goal.

Yep. Putting on a clinic when it comes to ball control. So much of it comes down to player movement when they don't have the ball. Nice PK by Cabaye for the French, there.

These commercials promoting MLS during Euro Cup are kind of amusing.

MLS fans are crazy. When I lived in Europe, I started following Ajax Amsterdam and FC Barcelona without ever having seen an MLS game. (I also followed Arsenal when they had Ljungberg.) Then I got home and started watching MLS. At first I thought it was literally a joke because the talent gap was that big.

I mentioned the talent gap on my facebook, then a friend of mine who is a huge Rapids fan said something like "if you're going to say stupid things on Facebook like that, then I'm blocking you.

I think he stubbed his vagina.

Happy to see England go out, I never did like Roy Hodgson.

Right now Germany is looking pretty good as a favourite to win this thing.

MLS is getting better, but it is not at the level of even a middle of the pack European league yet.

The big problem is the lack of organized youth training and leagues, NCAA is just not cutting it compared to the big European organizations.

I was hoping England could pull that off. I hate the diving in football and the Italians are the worst. Don't really have anyone to root for now, so I guess Germany.

Looking forward to the World Cup. Go Oranje!

Italy was just awful on offense today. So many missed opportunities.
I think Germany is gonna take it. They are very organized team with playmakers on offense.

Mls is improving a lot. With the growing of the development academies and almost every team having their own stadium now it has become comparable to the top second division European leagues. It was a joy watching the Sea-Port and NY-DC rivalry games today.
