Where did you find this jewel of wisdom? Sarcasm is frequently used as a means to communicate ambivalence which is the running theme in this thread, for good reason.

But realistically you don't need to hit a dog 4 times with a machete to protect yourself from what the pictures show looks like a dog that weighs 50-60 lbs at the most.
We don't even know that this actually happened. This could be the beginning of a dog BBQ in the Philippines, because that happens there and it frequently begins with a machete. All of the comedy and jokes related to the dog are related to the possibility that the dog could have been the aggressor. What you are characterizing as a blatant "mutilation" has not yet been established as such. What's sad is that you many people defending this thread at all, have fallen victim to the the victim factor used in marketing and false advertising. Every joke here is making light of that fact but you are too dim to catch it.

Has nothing to do with being too dim to pick up on sarcasm, it has to do with being a decent human being. Just as you said we don't know the whole story so the possibilty this guy was just a sick **** is there as well as the possibility the dog was rabid. And until proven wrong I will take the side of the perceived victim. If it comes out that he was protecting himself and the action was just I will gladly apologize to those I called a-holes, until then screw you heartless bastards

Brilliant. Long live the spamming fishermen! It's not glaringly apparent that any link that has a forced video advertisement on the page isn't likely to be spam? Keep playing the victim and don't let me know how that works out for you.

Probably because half the story is bogus or unprovable. I kinda grilled him on the details of it and asked some questions about why more action wasn't taken immediately on the Facebook page, and he deleted my posts without replying.

If he posted the guy's name and had a credible story the dude would have been receiving death threats for several days now. 4chan and others would eat him alive.

The only way to solve this is with a duel.

Now where were those machetes...

That is pretty suspect if he ignored you and deleted your posts. Were you your normal glowing self?

I don't know the whole story behind this, but I've started carrying a ballpeen hammer walking my Lab. Just recently got a couple pitbulls in the neighborhood, and they've been steadily breaking down the wood fence that keeps them in the yard. Sooner or later they're gonna break out. I've been in the middle of dogfights too many times with just my bare hands, my Lab doesn't instigate problems, but I figure the ballpeen will end any problems by another dog.

Basically just, 'I don't understand how the guy hasn't been arrested yet. Did you or anybody else witness him do this in broad daylight? Why didn't you call the cops immediately or confront him as soon as it happened? What did the sheriff tell you?' etc, etc.

I don't have it in me to get emotional about this kind of thing.

If your dog gets killed by your neighbor and your first reaction is to take pictures of it then put it on facebook.. You should turn in your man card.

Get a quality squirt gum and fill it with ammonia and water. A squirt to the eyes makes a much better tool.

A ballpeen hammer to stave off two pit bulls? Are you serious?

What is the Sheriff supposed to do? dog off his leash - if it acts even slightly aggressive that allows for you to defend yourself. No real civil liability - only entitled to the value of the dog - a few hundred bucks at best.

I only looked at the first few pages on the thread - couldn't take the stupid Mustang pics.

Hey, I haven't heard a lot of suggestions about how to stop a dogfight between big dogs without getting hurt yourself. A squirt gun with ammonia and water sounds good to me. Pepper spray is fine with me also, but if you have a 70 lb Lab on one hand, and an unleashed pit bull or two coming at you, you only have one hand to try fumbling the squirt bottle or try to thumb the pepper spray into unlocked position. The ballpeen is right there at hand, and it doesn't get into your own eyes on a wlndy day.

It's comical to think that a "good squirt gun" filled with Ammonia and water is a means of defense against an attacking ANYTHING. It's perhaps not a bad deterrent but you would want more of a "spray/shotgun" delivery before a ****ing squirt gun. Did you read that on some survival site Baja?

Not to mention the poor dog might end up with long term physical issues like blindness, chemical scaring, etc. But, it "might" run away. I wouldn't bet on it with pitbulls so the hammer/machete idea is a solid back up for this excellent defense mechanism for animal attacks. Look out dog lovers/haters/sarcastic a-holes , the canine squirt sniper is on the loose.

I would say it has graduated from a ploy to a scam. In one of the threads he had a link set up to donate money to a "legal fund".

This sounds like a property issue in civil court. I'd imagine there is a leash law as well. Good luck with that.

I find threads like these entertaining in the same way that I try and get jabs in every time I can at people not entering the highway at a proper speed. They cause society to reduce the speed of gaining collective intelligence in a negative fashion. Might as well have some fun with it.......

Precisely, especially considering that one of the posters put several comments on his Facebook that have now been deleted. I guess "MyMind" owes all of us a-holes an apology.
