Agree...Peyto is still Peyton but on paper, who cares really. The players have to fit what your doing and teh guy is a HOF'er but he is 36 coming off a year of not playing and a new scheme. We'll see how he does. I suspect he will be good, but who knows? He is 4-5 against us.

I wouldn't say Porter has horrid cover skills like this guy does. He is sort of avg for the NFL but I think he's better then Goodman.

Hard to really rate these things until after the dude plays for his new team. No doubt about it though your team wished it could have gotten Manning. Had you, right now you would be slobbering all over him.

This is true, but the point is that he hasn't proven anything yet and crowning him as the best FA pickup ever is a bit silly right now.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...el-questioned/
At the moment, Matt Cassel appears ready to step into the 2012 season as the clear starter in Kansas City. But that doesn’t necessarily mean the Chiefs’ brain trust is totally committed to Cassel going forward. The Kansas City Star reports that the Chiefs haven’t seemed sold on Cassel this offseason and are giving off mixed signals about where he stands with the team. Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel says he wants to see more consistency from Cassel. “That consistency . . . I think that’s the biggest thing with Matt,” Crennel said. “I think he’s excited about this year, about having Brian Daboll as our offensive coordinator, because he knows Brian and he knows the system Brian brings, and I’ve talked to Matt several times in the offseason and . . . he’s ready to go to work. He can’t wait for April 16th [the start of the Chiefs’ offseason program] to get here so he can start getting into the playbook.” However, the Kansas City Star suggests that a week after April 16th gets here, Cassel will have new competition for the job, in the form of Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill, whom the Chiefs worked out last week. It seems unlikely at this point that Tannehill will still be there at No. 11, where the Chiefs pick. But if Tannehill takes an unexpected fall out of the Top 10, the Chiefs could be the team to catch him. If that happens, there will be no doubt that the Chiefs plan to move on from Cassel. Right now, whether or not they believe in Cassel as their long-term quarterback is up in the air. |

This isn't about what Manning has done in his career. It's about how he'll do as a FA pickup in Denver...and he has a lot to live up to to be better than those players.
Brees won a SB and has made the Saints an elite team for years, Warner took the Rams to 2 SB's and even took the Cardinals to one as a FA, Sanders played a big role in the Cowboys and 49ers winning the SB as a FA. |

Now 3 years from now, maybe Denver fans will feel how Chief fans felt after the Joe Montana years.. and it won't be seen quite as great. I don't get how you could assume he won't have the same impact as those other players though. Nobody really knows. All I can do now is judge him where he is right now. |

What was the point? That KC might be ready to move past Cassel? QB is the hardest position to find. Easier said then done.
Especially when the rest of KC's team is good enough that they're never going to get a top pick to nab a QB. IF Kc's really not sold on Cassel, and they think Tannehill is the next great QB--should just trade up to get him I guess. I doubt he slips to 11. |

But I will say this. All of those players had a lot of talent on their teams to help them succeed. I don't think Manning has that much talent around him in Denver as the other players did on their teams. |
