Celebrating the masterwork that is The Joshua Tree ... released 25 years ago this month.
Could make a plausible argument it's the greatest album ever made. I think Bono and Edge deserve status right alongside the greatest rock collaborators, Jagger-Richards, Townsend-Daltrey, Henley-Frey, maybe even Page-Plant. They've more than earned it. . . . . . . . . ![]() . . . . . . .The Joshua Tree ~ March 1987 |

I’ve just recently discovered lots and lots of isolated track videos on YouTube. Probably most interesting to musicians, I can't stop listening to them. John Bonham - Fool in the Rain. Obv helps to run the lyric/medley as you go. Jump to 2:30 for the piano break and then double time shuffle all the way home ![]() |

![]() U2 sucks. They belong nowhere near the great songwriting duos you mention. Basically, they have one song. They keep playing that song over and over and over and over... |

You guys really believe that, even most of it? Too bad. Not that we disagree, but that you don't experience the same power of 'One' or 'Two Hearts Beat as One.' Songs that mean and move like 'Pride in the Name of Love' and 'Bullet the Blue Sky,' fun like 'Angel of Harlem,' 'Sweetest Thing,' 'Love Comes to Town.' Can't imagine how anybody could resist the irresistable shout-out-loud energy of 'Beautiful Day.'
I suppose I might be overrating them by reference, in that I'm often heard calling Bono is the best human being on the planet. Which I believe ![]() Okay, south of Page-Plant and Jagger-Richards, north of Townsend-Daltrey and Henley-Frey. You might not appreciate the depth of their discography, it's double-triple that of Zeppelin or the Eagles. |

To me, U2 has always been like, "WTF?" I just don't get it. It's like Bruce Springsteen. Never got that either. I'd also put them way south of Townsend. Tommy? Guitar anthems like "We Don't Get Fooled Again?" "My Generation?" "Bargain?" That's some world changing rock. The Who go up in the first tier, IMHO.
I do agree that Bono is a very admirable person. ![]() |

You guys are more serious than I thought ...
Haven't seen this sharp a disagreement since Hogan came in praising Foghat as highly as he did. |

You like RR/The Band more than U2? This is honestly the very first time I have ever questioned your taste. In anything ... I can honestly say I'm kinda at a loss really.
I dunno where Hogan is, I took a sabbatical myself, so I dunno. Foghat is just a thing I poke him with, don't think he's ever mentioned them. But he did compare the quality of Vanilla Fudge production with that of Led Zeppelin. Which is even more preposterous than liking Foghat. |

Talk about an epic masterpiece! The Edge and Bono of U2 contributed some guitar and BU vocals on "Testimony" and "Sweet Fire of Love." These tracks were recorded in Ireland the same time as the record Buff was extolling. +1. U2 can only dream of being half as great as The Band and RR. |

a solid cover....
more about the new album Godsmack's upcoming live album is due out this spring! It will include 13 of the bands favorite live songs that were recorded at their Detroit Rock City show last tour. The guys were recording a lot last tour but this is the show that stood out the most to the band & really kicked ass. “It’s always a great audience, as any rock band will tell you. Playing there is a special kind of fan base that they have there, they live up to their reputation. They’re a great rock audience, so that’s where the record was recorded.” ~ Sully Erna . |
