Also, here's a picture of the ISS:
![]() How do the thin parts and relatively delicate solar panels withstand the 2,700°F temperature of the thermosphere, in which the ISS orbits? |

WIGS when it comes to many things laymen pretty much just have to take sciences word for it.
I'm trying to figure out how then powers Gaff fears could manipulate all scientist to jump on board. America and the world has too many rebels for that IMO. |

The Venus transit is coming up in less than 3 months! Then we'll have to wait until 2117 to see the next one.

I KNOW I KNOW!! ok I think i know. In space its all about extreme heat, and cold. The heat is mostly radiation that materials absorb and get hotter and hotter. So they have developed special insulation that instead of absorbing or letting radiation though, it reflects it off in infared radiation. My dad talked to me about this before but I realize i probably missed a lot. But i remember him telling me once that in space there is no air, so there is no convection, and that somehow is something they deal with by reflecting radiation. But it it re-entered it would be useless against the friction heat the space shuttle had to go through landing back to earth.
Still though I'm trying to understand what is going on. Is Gaff saying Venus is a trapped Comet and not a planet? I am no expert but i trust astronomy science to probably have a pretty good idea of what a planet it. |

Yeah I'm not sure how we got on to Venus either. The space conspiracy theories always make me laugh. Scientific literacy in this country is terrible and space is a whole different ball game. I will agree with gaff in one small way. We need a better way to teach this stuff if we ever want the general public to take interest. Personally I would love to see a greater interaction with science and art. Not everybody can learn abstract concepts with theories and numbers. Visual representations are just as important.
