After reasing Klis' article again I think it's misleading.

He's basically in the notion that the Broncos have diminished expectations because they were not able to get Manning signed yesterday. I never thought we'd have a chance of that anyway. If anything Manning is gonna play this out right to the bitter end.

Maybe it aint over

Yeah, and then he could get right back home to his workouts. I think he left Arizona thinking he didn't want to do it like that anymore or it'd take a month and destroy his routine in the process.

Although Melonhead might take a month anyway. Just for fun I guess.

That is my point. Twitter update from Josina Anderson with quote from direct source backs that up.

It didn't happen. Why? I'm guessing Manning hasn't decided yet.

But, 'diminished expectations'? Maybe. But, I'm guessing they just REALLY thought they could do it Friday and now they have to wait until after Tenn workout.

Disagree. We tried to bring him back? For what? Did we expect him to show up at duke withnhisnsuitcase packed?

He could just as easily have signed a contract there.....and saved him the flight to Denver and back again, only to have to fly back one more time after he is showing up to buy a house.

Bringing him back IMO never seemed to be an option or even a consideration because it had no bearing on anything.

I don't think we're out, and we won't know until we get Schefter posting a definitive or close to definitive destination. However, the front office is starting to look sort of desperate.

Peyton's working out on Duke campus. Duke exits from tournament early.

Coincidence?

It's amazing just how many of you have been in the dark for so long.

What have I repeatedly been posting around here:

Bowlen is CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP....BROKE, BROKE, BROKE

So, when we find out that we won't be getting Maning....don't be surprised when we don't sign anyone else worth a **** this offseason.

But, still, many of you will be chirping about how smart EFX is being by not signing big named free agents, and how we need to build through the draft.

Look people, that's the only strategy we can execute.....because this team is BROKE!!!

Josina Anderson (@JosinaAnderson)
(From last night) Broncos source on NC trip & Manning pursuit at this time: "I thought the meeting went great and the workout was good, but he is working through his own process and time. We have to be levelheaded. He may come here, or he may not. Peyton is going to do what he is going to do. We have no idea about the timing of his decision, but we hope it's going to be us. We know Peyton is going to go off of his own feelings."

"I know people are getting frustrated, and agents are getting frustrated, but we just have to be patient. We are talking about one of the biggest free agents ever. So it is what it is."

This is a far cry from the confidence EFX exuded coming out of last weekend. We're easily in the weakest position of the big 3 players now. We can't outspend the Titans, because to their owner, money is no object. We can't be the best route to the dance, because SF is clearly superior.

And both teams have been actively building their teams during this process. We've been stalking Peyton. Probably calling his house and then hanging up when he answers, just to see if he's home, or if he might be with that b**** Tennessee again.

Broncos don't have the strongest roster to offer -- that's the Niners.

Broncos don't have the best offensive coach to offer -- that's the Niners.

Broncos don't have the most sentimental landing spot to offer -- that's Tennesee.

Broncos don't have the strongest running back -- that's Titans.

The only thing they can do is back the truck up and pay him the most.

Point to notice. Peyton hasn't started his throwing session. The guy who "broke" story said it may have been altered because of attention. Fact is no national media has reported anything. Who knows if Manning is throwing today.

Of course they are cash strapped. That's why Xander's spins "cheap" with "value signings". Wake up people. Value signings equals cheap. They had plenty of cap space last year and this year. The new CBA doesn't force a team to spend up to the cap in 2011 or 2012. They saw this as an opportunity to keep the payroll way low for 2 years before they are required to spend. This manning saga Is showing that they are switching from cheap mode. But if they don't get him don't look for spending for someone else. It's back to being cheap.

I agree with everything but that last one. Bud Adams will pay what it takes. No matter what has to be done to free up the money. And like I've said before, they can save some coin in cutting (or dealing) Hasselbeck. That's another 6 or so a year they can give Peyton that costs nothing against their cap.

I don't know why Peyton would want to look John in the eye. He's been screwing him from behind all week. Hell, Peyton won't even leave a number or cab fare on the dresser for our twits.

Someone needs to be fired.

Pat Bowlen is giving us the Bidwell. Low payroll, high prices for inferior product and just play make cash on the Brand. We are chumps.

the only thing we have going for us is Elway

if Manning really respected him as a player/person/executive he would have told him at some point in this process that we wouldn't be the choice because of X, Y or Z

I think our only ace-in-the-hole is that mutual respect that players/former players have for each other

Yeah that is why I think Denver should have added some players or coaches to entice Manning. I do think FO is living in the past with their league rep too its not as strong as it was in the mid 90's. Money issues too we never really had a shot we were here to up the price and garner interest from teams he really wanted.

Harbough handed over reigns to him. He is great offensive mind, has good team. 9ers have become very calculated with persuits. The did same thing with Harbough. They worry me.

Harbaugh inherited singletarys team. They didn't change a whole lot on their roster. Harbaugh just knew how to coach them. Baalke and York make a lot of decisions. That team used FA just as much if not more for talent. Good team all they way around. Horrible stadium.

The Broncos, even after adding Manning, will still have the cap space available to bring over his buddies and help shape the offense into something he'd prefer.

Valid points but compelling argument they have. The fact no one knew of them and Manning stalled out when he reportedly close to a deal, that worries me.

Peyton's agent really has him in the catbird's seat.

Three teams, in a bidding war, that's being followed almost non-stop by the press from coast to coast.

Denver, a playoff team, 2d highest cap room in the NFL, with management wanting desperately to get out of the Tebowmania bind.

Tennessee, winning record, already considers him a homegrown hero, and the owner is willing to write a blank check. Even the governor is begging him to sign.

San Francisco. Final four last year. One botched play from the super bowl. willing to set aside its own young star QB.

And this is for an aging QB with serious injury issues who wasn't able to play a down last year.

Tease, tease, tease.

Now looking like the girl from Ipanema.

Not bad, Mr. Condon. Your job is done and Peyton can do whatever he wants.

Expect many more clients in the near future.
