As of right now I can get 5/1 on the Titans signing Peyton over here in the UK.

Broncos are 10/11 odds on favourites.

Should I cover the impending disappointment of him not joining by making £100 in the process Considering if he joins Denver I'll still be happy despite losing £20.

If Manning comes to Denver, the script will be already set for another full rebuild in 2-3 years on Offense. Interesting enough that will be about the time Shanny will be looking for work if RG3 doesn't produce huge. HMMMMMMMM....

Teams getting “worn out” by Peyton chase

A league source tells PFT that some of the suitors for his services are tiring of the process.

Glad to see it's not just the fans!

I'm going to be so mad if the Titans get them. A few days ago Titans weren't even in the picture and now they are neck and neck. Bud Adams hate will be strong.

It seems to work that way so often though, a team swoops in and gets the deal done. From Peyton's perspective if we made the assumption the money was equal both places- which we dont know for sure - here's the advantages I can think of...

Broncos
Strong leadership between Elway and Fox
Flexability to mold the offense how I want (although Tennessee could offer this too, but Denver is proven to be very flexible after last year)
Intriguing WR prospects in Thomas and Decker
Decent OL and running game (they wont be 1st in NFL w/out #15 and the zone-read)
Weak division for the taking
Defense already has good pass rushers since we'll be playing with a lead
Plenty of cap room to add other players
Good city to raise the kids

Titans
Familliarity with the division
Get to smash the Colts twice a year
I went to college there
My wife is from there
Chris Johnson and Kenny Britt
Really good pass-blocking OL
Not a "cold-weather" city (although Klis had facts that showed Denver wasn't one, but apparently that's one of his concerns about the Broncos)
No Tebow circus

What am I missing?

Don't have an 89 year old owner who overrules his football decision-makers (Tenn's front office had no intention of pursuing Manning until Adams demanded it; he made Fisher draft Vince Young years ago).

According to that article, the numbers werent where they needed to be, which is why a team like the Titans got back into the picture.

Translated, this could have been a done deal but we low balled our offer.

Seriously? It's only been 5 freaking days for us at least. Anyone getting "worn out" after only 5 days of work doesn't deserve a HOF QB.

"But Peyton just wants to compeeeeeeeete"

Yeah, right. He does want to compete but he wants his retirement payday more. Which is fine but to think otherwise is delusional. My call was that Peyton costs about 3 FA impact players, 2 if one is Mario Williams. I stand by that. Dammit.

Since the Broncos have no intention of going after FA "impact" players, it's a wash. Bowlen's new nickname: Lowball.

Well not only that but as an organization you really need Manning to make a decision so you can move forward. For example, maybe the Broncos (hypothetically) get involved with Flynn if Manning falls through. Can't do that until you know. Your budget is definitely impacted, and not just at the QB position, by a guy who might go 4 yrs/$90+ million.

I don't know that "lowball" is the right term to use here. There was a market for Manning and then Bud Adams changed it.

I'll be really curious to see what the Broncos do if they don't get PM. Probably throw a boatload of money at Hasselbeck.

I think we'll find out what Peyton is really all about today. If it's just about the money he'll go play in Tennessee for a crazy old man who meddles with real football people and flips off fans from his owners box.

If it's about a good fit for his career and family, he'll play in Denver for an organization with strong leadership top to bottom and a good young talent nucleus and money to spend on key free agents.

For Manning to still be mulling things over, it hardly speaks to what a great offer the Broncos gave him. It is almost like he is waiting, hoping, for some other team to offer anything close or better.

Or it could also mean talking ballpark numbers with Peyton, feeling like you have a good idea where things sit, and then having him shop it to other teams and driving up the price repeatedly.

Suddenly what sounded good at 15 mil a year doesn't sound so great at 25, but you've put your nuts in a vise even going down this road so you soldier on no matter what the cost.

Are there any "key" free agents left?

Will they spend any of it though? Outside of PM, we have only brought in Merriweather (GAG) for a look. This is a team with holes, lots and lots of holes, and while strong teams keep getting better, we stand pat. Heck one of our own key FA's Bunkley, is in danger of walking.

Whether or not they sign Manning, this team needs more help than the draft can provide, and has no depth.
