I think he will be above average back up. If reports are right we are there to talk to Manning first.

Based on what? Weeden ever took snaps from the center and never in the shotgun? I thought that was so important, or is that only if your name is Tebow?

Smith didn't in college as well and he is an average to above average starter. Why can't Weeden be above average back up? Smith needed work. Tebow needed work. Weeden needs work too. Only difference I think Weeden is coming into a back up role.

Yeah, only took Smith 7 years to develop is all.

I think this option also gives Elway the ability to get rid of Tebow who he is uncomfortable with and revert the offense to a normal pocket passing set.
In a "Win now" league the Colts are opting to win later. The Colts are opting to gamble on Luck rather than Manning's recovery. The Colts have more faith that a rookie is better for their team than Manning and his 4 surgeries. The Colts are opting to build their championship team through the draft, we would be well served to do the same.

Weeden took snaps under center and in the shotgun

So you see the same time table for Tebow and Weeden then? If that is the case I'm so excited to wait for Tebow to develop in another 5 or so years. Personally I think it's easier to become a OK backup vs becoming a OK starter.

Go root for a team that will go 6-10 next year or if we send Tebows ass to Jacksonville then go with them. That way you can feel more "organic" when your new team goes 6-10. I'll be happy as a clam and enjoying life when we're 12-4 the next 3 years and competing for Super Bowls.

Oh...btw, if you would feel cheap if Manning raises the Lombardi in the Orange and Blue then you should have felt equally as cheap in '97 and '98 when we got those hired guns Gary Zimmerman, Mark Schlereth, Alfred Williams, Neil Smith, Ray Crocket, Ed McCaffrey, Howard Griffith, and Kieth Traylor to help us win those Super Bowls.
None of those guys ate up 25% of the available cap space in the offseason in which they were signed. None of those guys had experimental surgery on their necks. All of those guys worked out before they inked their deals.

We're done here.

Can I ask why it matters? I would think it would be on the high side.

Weeden is already 4-5 years older than Tebow, so if Weeden isn't ready to start now in the NFL, then drafting him in say the 2nd round makes zero sense.

Just a swag but I'd say 80% that he is signed by 4:00 pm EST on Tuedays
I think this weekend will be a ton of late night negociations with teams and Condon

Well, and $50million - this was about $...not so much about his neck.

That is where many mock drafts I have seen have projected him to go.

Mock drafts? Well I guess it's a done deal then. I'm suggesting we draft him in the second by any means.

I said it was a done deal? I just stated that is where most draft sites have him going, but maybe I should listen to you instead you have watched more tape and studied the players more than them.

Just a quick though and I am not sure if it has been said before because I don't feel like going through 55 pages of troll posts.

Aren't Manning and Todd Helton best friends? Wasn't Helton working out with Manning earlier this year? Could the Denver talks have been going on for quite some time now? Thoughts?

Let me get this straight. You don't think he should go in the second round because of his age but the people that scouted him and watched tape on him think he should go in the second round. Who has watched more film and studied more players you or them? I mean if I can't give an opinion on where he should be drafted then why the hell can you?

Helton already said he would try and get Manning here if it came down to that.

Unless you're giving Manning a cap hit of $38m this season he wont be eating 25% of the Broncos cap space considering we have nearly $150m payroll this year should we need the use in its entirety.
