no. I don't think he would ever play to that level of pure passer. I mean he's just learning basic fundamentals now. The Brees's and Manning have been doing it the same since pop warner. Tebow is way way behind the curve and I don't think, even with his legendary work ethic, that he could achieve that level.

However, he has a physical aspect to his game that is rare. His running style can keep defenses off balance as we have seen before. He also throws well on the move, especially to his left, and he can have nice touch on his deep balls.

If he worked(and I believe he will) his intermediate passing game to just to point of adequate, the rest of his game would open up. He is a jack of all trades and a master of none at QB. NOw that defenses have taken away his strengths, he is playing his weakest part right now. It's why he looks like dog****. because in the intermediate passing game, he is.

I really believe it is 99% mental for him now. I expect that from a guy starting less than a full season of games in his career. We shouldn't be writing him off now, because if and when he starts beating man coverage(even just a little) defenses will have to adjust what they are doing now.

Shouldn't we be all collectively rooting for our young promising qb to adjust and overcome his own limitations? Isn't that what we want?

I just don't understand how many here are convinced as to his abilities. the truth is not one of us knows how his career will turn out.

I just think hard work and film study will improve him to the point of being an all around great qb. He will never be Manning IMHO(but who knows?) but he can be a dominant dual threat who scores.

He has already shown it. WHy are so many of us forgetting that he is capable of scoring even as a dog**** raw qb.

Just imagine what he could be if he improved.

THink if Cutler wasn't a **** where we would be right now. Hard work is the most important aspect. THe good one's get better everyday. Tebow has improved in a lot of areas and should be given the benefit of the doubt that he will improve.

Two bad games is not the complete story, and frankly, it's odd that so many of you can say that with a straight face.

If he fails to improve, he will be gone, and we as a fanbase will move on. Many have failed before him, and many still will.

but many did get better, and many became champions despite early struggles.

Well, the thread had morphed into a discussion of Tebow being an elite athlete (he is one beyond question) being able to be taught to be a top passer. Elway said "it's not always going to be pretty." Assuming he's right, in today's NFL can a team win a Lombardi with a qb who is not at least as good as Eli Manning on his best day.

Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf were both physical specimen's. But who worked harder?

WHen the debate was going on about who to draft, I remember watching a special on both QB's. I knew Manning would be the better pick specifically based upon his work ethic and preparation.

Manning is tall, but he is not a great athlete. His physical gifts are his height really. Where he is great is in his accuracy(trained) and his film study. Drew Brees is only 6' and was considered too small to play Qb because he "can't see over the line" but his accuracy(trained) and film study are also very well documented.

There is no perfect formula of course, but hard work is more important than talent in my opinion.

NOw, if you have a gifted athlete who works hard, you have a chance to always improve. This is why I would bet on Tebow and have. To think that Accuracy is somehow bestowed upon you is beyond me. if any of us threw a thousand footballs a day, I am pretty sure we could all throw a football through a tire swing 90% of the time.

There are no extra muscles, or special "brain parts" that I, or any doctor. know of that determines accuracy. There is no "gene" that great QB's are born with.

They do it everyday and work hard. Now, there are certain physical attributes like fast twitch muscles and good eyesight and natural coordination that give some people an edge, but to pretend that they don't need to train is a myth.

The point is that you really need both to be exceptional. Neither is enough in a vacuum.

And back to the point of Tebow, if there are some people that don't think he is athletic naturally, they need to have their heads examined.If he continues to work on his passing he will improve. It's just simple math. He just never ran a pro style offense and he is very raw and his fundamentals are awful.

To count him out after 14 games because of a few bad one's in a row is something reserved for morons.

Oh i think he's physically talented - i just don't know if he's a natural passer. Sometimes that talent is important. Maybe a guy like brees has the "knack" for timing and understanding an O - where someone like Orton understands it in the class room - but can't do it on the field.

I just don't view "potential" as limitless. That's all.

I think the closest modern example would be the Steelers. Big Ben is solid, but I wouldn't put his passing ability in the same league as Brees, Rogers, or even Eli. Their offensive production is generally middle-of-the-road to below average. Ben's enough of an athlete to scrape some things together out of nothing, but the Steelers aren't out there winning shootouts.

understood. and I would agree to a point. However, like I've posted many times lately, I don't believe in "natural passers". I mean Elway had a naturally strong arm that was god given, but the act of footwork, timing, accuracy were trained and drilled. I really believe this.

In fact, TO think that Elway just picked up a football and threw a perfect spiral that was perfectly aimed without being shown how to throw by his dad is actually kind of laughable.

I had some zingers about Aaron Rogers throwing a football over them mountains before he could walk. It's not possible.

Imagine Aaron Rogers grew up being raised by a pack of wolves and just came out of the forrest. Do you really believe wolfboy Aaron could lead the Packers to a superbowl at the same time he was while learning how to wipe his ass with toilet paper?

I think the natural thing is a myth really. I really really do. Once you open up to it, it really does make sense.

I mean if my dad was Archie Manning or Jack Elway and they had me throwing with perfect fundamentals at 6, don't you think I could be a competitive Qb? I'm 6'1" and somewhat coordinated. Don't you think If I trained every day and understood the mental aspects of the game and put in the work that I could possibly pull it off? I do.

We all would be. How about we give the kid a chance to see. At least we know that even as a dog**** QB, he was better than a polished 7 year vet. i mean we ARE in the playoffs.

I’ve read post after post saying, “Tebow is not far enough along yet and should be progressing quicker." Really?

So far his NFL career spans 2 seasons and 14 games, which is not even a full NFL season. If the doubters and haters out there would be give him a break, technically he has 2 more games to go to have 16 starts, all of this done with a new coaching staff this year and no extended reps in training camp. In my opinion that still classifies him as a Rookie.

So what has he done in 14 games?

He was 1-2 last year as a starter, 7-4 this year for an overall record of 8-6. Hmmm… not progressing enough for you?

Okay… So after taking over as starter for a 1-4 team about as down as you can possibly get, he lead the team to a 7-4 record. Not good enough, he should have won more games as a starter right?

He has 6 4th Quarter come from behind wins. Still not enough for all you QB experts?

During one stretch this year he led the Broncos to 3 straight wins over divisional opponents all on the road. Whatever…That doesn’t matter either.

Only on the Orange Mane will you get a group of whiny, dissatisfied know-it-all QB experts who would support a certifiable Bum like Orton for 2 ½ years and then condemn a “Rookie” to the NFL gallows after taking one of the worst teams in the NFL from a year ago even if it wasn’t done in a beautiful way to a playoff berth. If he were in any other city in America he’d be getting puts on the back but in here all he gets is a kick in the ass.

For God sakes guys, we’re in the playoffs. I know it doesn’t look good against a strong Steelers defensive team.
