That DEFENSIVE line is "holding" so long because that is what they have been coached to do.. Tebow's mobility and running ability forces the D line to try to contain Tebow. But then what they do is attack him when he is forced to pass. It's really just a kind of delayed blitz. All it does is make Tebow's offensive line LOOK much better than it is. If it was a normal passing QB they would have just attacked immediately and gotten the quick sack. Quote:
They basically just don't let Tebow play QB until they are down 2 TDs or it's the end of the 4th quarter.. how can people not see this? It's also why the Broncos D look much better than it is.. it's a gimmick.. run the ball all the time and punt the opposing offense deep in their own territory every time. Makes your d look much better at the expense of your own O.. makes opposing Os look bad too. It's like a slow down low post defensive battle in basketball. Like Popovich in the NBA. |

He has stated in the past this season he'd rather Tebow lost than the Broncos win, hence why he disappeared during the win streak and came back now.

I dis appeared because during the one week ban I actually enjoyed being away from you co******ing Teboners. Get it? I also moved to another home and had to prep my other home as a rental. So, take your opinions and shove them where the sun doesn't shine. |

I really hadn't commented too much on this, because I wanted to see how it played out. I thought the "magic" angle was overstated for several reasons. "Magic" implies an improbable win under unusual circumstances. But all the Bronco wins were exactly the same game! It went like this:
1. Broncs play team with losing record, are offensively challenged like themselves, have a rookie qb, or five dbs out with injury. 2. Defense plays lights out. 3. Tebow runs base offense with option to run. Gains large yardage sporadically. Running backs bust big runs at crucial times. Passes are either soft spirals or wobbly ducks (in no particular order). Hits completely wide open recievers with no adjustments to be made. 4. Opposing defenses back off in fourth quarter, leaving large areas of the field for Tim to roam or run. They no longer contain on the edges and play 10-20 yards off. 5. The so called "magic" begins when the offense suddenly and miraculously moves, after bumbling and stumbling for 55 minutes. Opposing defenses suddenly decide to defend the pass, despite the fact Tim will run for short yardage on key gains. 6. Score is close, a touchdown or less. Big runback is optional, putting Broncos in place for a "comeback." 7. Cameras are deliberately on Tebow for long periods of time between series, or when he's praying or kneeling. 8. We get the standardized cliches about "Tebow Time" and the goobers in the third deck waving signs. 9. Broncos score, pull out narrow win. 9a. Press conference has a Tim giving standard bland comments with no depth or insight as to how he really feels. 10. Skip Bayless will shriek the following day on "ESPN's First Take" and try to shout down Steven A. Smith. 11. Trent Dilfer will pump and praise Tim (curiously, a lot of the same things were said about him although he was a better qb). THE FLIP SIDE 1. Broncos play team with legitimate qb and offense. 2. Tim turns ball over and fumbles. 3. Defense can't keep up (minus a certain team captain) 4. Broncos get blown out. So really, they have no margin for error...they either win extremely close games or get totally blown out. You can't trust a team like this in the playoffs. Based on post game comments, it almost feels like the players already know they have no chance. It ain't like back in the day! |

****, put Brady Quinn in there, just so we have a control. We will see how bad the WR, Coaches, etc., et al... really are. If Quinn comes in and throws for 300 yards, then there you go, you have your answer.

You said too bad it didn't happen to Tebow, cause he's a waste of a roster space. Nice try, though. |

Not for me Popps. I have never been on the bandwagon. I do not think he is a long term answer. I would love to be wrong. Really. I hope that someone flashes this post at me in three years and says, "Remember when you were bagging on Tebow?" I hope I eat a healthy portion of crow.
But Tebow is not the answer. I hope we draft a QB in the 2nd - 5th round and pick up Matt Flynn as a free agent. Let those three guys fight it out in a full offseason and really build this team. |

you're also not going to be able to sign matt flynn with the winning pitch of "hey, check it out: come here and we'll let you compete for the job in training camp. and part of your competition will be the most popular player in professional sports. sound good?"

what if he comes in throws for 300 yards and then the run game stinks with him and the defense regresses without the run game and he throws 2 picks and they still lose by a touchdown..?
